It doesn't work

For one thing there are always new posters and posters who come and go. So for example, even if all of us who read your post say we will never respond to udo (or some other assclown troll) again, he could post some bullshit tomorrow and a few new posters will read him for the first time and respond. Then some of the old timers who said they would ignore him, will probably come abord, even if just to tell the newcomers to ignore the assclown. then there are some old timers who just enjoy playing with and provoking the assclowns.

So yes I'm sure that if nobody ever answered any of their posts they would eventually go away, but I just don't see it being possible to have no one answer their posts.

when your little brother, or some dipshit kid at school was annoying you beyond your endurance limits, and your mom said to you "just ignore him, and he'll go away?"

Do you think that would hold true here? I know that every time I see one of those posts, I grit my teeth and count backwards from 100... sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't.

One thing I AM sure of, as long as their posts continue to attract dozens of replies, they will continue to post. I don't understand the satisfaction they get from being attacked from all angles, and from not having a single supporter (except their own alter-egos), but clearly they are getting SOMETHING out of it.

If their posts hang out there alone, or with nothing but the occasional "newbie" reply... maybe they WILL go away.

guys you see posting ISO's for SMP (small penis humiliation).  They need to be made fun of to reinforce the feeling that they are actually worthless.  Negative attention is better than no attention (and much easier to get).

Generally I do try to ignore their idiocy but once in a while I gotta reply to one that gets under my skin.

....but I agree with you, what really ticks me off is when a troll post gets a whole thread of comments.   I want to fkn scream "STOP IT".   The fact is that if we all ignore such posts they will "hang alone", but  many just can't resist the urge to "swat the moron"!  I have caught myself several times writing an attack post on a moronic OP on my regional board only to tell myself the best thing to do is to to hit delete and go in the kitchen and get a beer!  Ahhhh, refreshing!

If you can't look away and continue to let yourself get worked up over something, that's on you...no one else.

There are plenty of people on this board I find annoying.  I just don't respond to them.  I don't think they should be kicked off the board at all.  Why?  I don't HAVE to respond to their postings.  If I am so worked up that I gotta post about everyone else giving attention to stupid posts, that's MY issue, not someone else's.

Work on yourself.  Just ignore it.

Remember the Fido v. London fight a couple days ago went on 13 hours.  If London ignored him, we'd had missed the best entertainment TER has had since I joined.  The thread went on forever.

You can't change anybody but yourself. I learned that lesson a long time ago.
I'm pretty sure I've never responded to one of his posts, maybe once or twice
early before I figured him out -
It's not SO much that I find HIM (them) annoying, but that they pretty much
post the same thing over and over again - why? Because people keep responding. AND,
responding with the same thing, over and over again, as well. And clearly we are
reinforcing the bad behavior by responding.

I agree 100% with PS that it is impossible to get everyone to stop responding, and in
fact is that what I am advocating, stifling the guy's free speech? Hmmm, no, I don't think so...
(I'm typing in free-fall now) :) I guess I was hoping that maybe at least a number of senior posters would stop reacting to the idiot. I don't know for sure exactly what I'm looking for.

I guess I look at these posts as being like getting punched in the arm by Bart Simpson:
"Does that hurt?"
"How about now?"
"How about now?"
"How about now?"
"How about now?"
"How about now?"
"How about now?"
"How about now?"
"How about now?"
"How about now?"
"How about now?"
DOH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't remember my mom telling me that.  However, I find it easier to ignore somebody on line than some body whose in my face.

Are you such a control freak that you're offended when everything isn't as you would have it. Lemme guess.....single? Lol
