I've never been an exotic dancer, but I installed a pole in my apartment solely for the incredible full-body workout it provides. You would not believe the strength it takes to do some of those moves. Case in point:

I was a strip club pole dancer for three years.

I have been wanting to go to the pole dancing athletic competition (to watch) for years.  
The first year I came to NYC, this event occurred in Manhattan, and I missed it.
I have not been aware that it occurred since then.

I also regularly see teenage boys, just freestyle dancing on the subway.  
They have more sophisticated moves than a lot of strippers do.  LOL
