This is a topic we have discussed before but I need to hear it again.
My VIP membership expires in 9 days. Since I pretty much just see my ATF and therefore do not use the reviews nor submit reviews, don't mind being moderated on the discussion boards, get PMed rarely, I am trying to think of why I should renew versus lurking.
I let my membership expire a few weeks ago and I am not currently being moderated. However, I do have a mail message that I am somewhat curious about but can not check.
TER makes SOME money, I'm sure, from advertizers, but not a lot.
The reason this site exists is to make revenue from PAYING MEMBERS .... so if (in the extreme example) everyone let their VIP memebership expire, there wouldn't BE a TER.
"Taking one for the team" should mean paying for a membership even when it doesn't benefit you quite as much as it does other people, so that the site continues to prosper.
When I read this the vision of you as a liberal democrat standing next to Ted Kennedy asking me for my tax money to benefit the underserved danced in my head but then I woke up LOL
ACTUALLY, the only reason to maintain a membership in my viewwpoint is to allow me the opportunity to continue to interact with the likes of people like you and the many variations of "cynicalman" plus all the hobbyists and providers who regularly contribute to the boards. There is simply no other place where I get the opportunity to learn so much and shoot my mouth about things I know nothing about.
So even though this is not a not for profit board and someone is making big bucks LOL I will probably pay because I would miss this too much if it ever folded.
"I'm thinking about joining myself. As a provider, I wonder what the differences would be. ???"
Well, if the prosepctive client is a TER member, you can look up their reviews and message posts (if any) to see what he likes and dislikes and if he is someone you want to meet.
--b. (BTW, your web site comes up "not found." Geocities strikes again.)
......who once told me he had no problem with next door neighbors with similar houses paying widely different amounts of property taxes (due to Prop 13), even if they each received the same benefit? Let me get my neck brace, I think I just got whiplash!
I pay because I feel it is worth the price. Like you, I keep to a regular list of women. Occasionally, I'll come across someone new I'm interested in seeing, but its not often enough to justify the cost of the membership.
When I first registered, I submitted reviews to gain VIP status. When it expired, it remained so until I posted another review. That would get me another 15 days. Sometimes I'd go a couple of months without VIP status.
But as I began reading the message boards and interacting with people I realized that this forum had value to me. Heck, I enjoy this board far more than I enjoy most of the cable channels I pay $40+ a MONTH for. So, if I'm paying $500+ a year for cable, what's $200 a year for something I get more enjoyment from?
I subscribe to a newspaper for a similar reason: the comics. Now, the comics aren't nearly what they used to be (that's another offtopic post, probably) but I get 50 cents a day worth of entertainment out of several of them. I could care less about the rest of the paper's content. Online sources are much easier and faster for me when it comes to news. But I get a certain enjoyment out of sitting down with the comics page and reading it at my leisure.
household spends on TV cable! Holyshitbatman! Like $90 a month! I pay $12 a month and rarely have it on - just once in a while on a Sunday night to catch a glimpse of Vincent Dinofrio (sp), since I have a little crush on him! LOL
I get WAY more pleasure reading the posts on the boards and also contributing than I could out of watching TV!
other members and they will be able to private message you. Some ladies use this for a variety of reasons. also you will be able to meet other members in chat rooms which some ladies use to their advantage.
Without billions of consumer bucks to back the investment in tooling etc do you think we would have an automobile, motorcycle, RV or any other big industry?. Gee'z o'l Mr. Warmth here is going through a major personal economic crisis but if $20 is going to make or break me I might as well put the gun barrel in my mouth and let my brains fly. If you are going to retire from the hobby then hold on to your Andrew Jackson but if you want to stay and be part of the party then pitch in. It amazes me how the guys spend a fortune on this hobby while the ladies bank a fortune, yet both parties have trouble coughing up twenty bucks to promote, protect and proliferate it.
