Is the medium the massage?.....

I know where Fuzzy stands on this from a post he made today on the Newbie Board, but for everyone else, what importance, if any, do you place on a really good massage?

Of course, I like all the sexy stuff too, but let's face it, if you're an oldie goldie like me, after the first pop, you're looking at anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes before the engine revs up again.

Wouldn't it be nice to enjoy that time with a nice massage by someone who really knows how to do it and even, perhaps, enjoys giving same?

I know I have found some providers who are real pros at it.

Any and all viewpoints welcomed.  I just wonder if I'm alone in this POV.

I'm talking strictly provider to client massage.  The reverse is a whole other subject for later.

I see a certified massage therapist on a regular basis. She costs $60 per hour. What I've learned is that there are two kinds of masseuses in my state. There are masseuses trained at quickie trade schools. These are the sort of folks you find working at salons and spas.  Then there are certified massage therapists who go through an extensive training and licensing procedure plus have a continuing studies requirement. They are  alternative medical practitioners.

My massage therapist has pretty much ruined me for a plain-old spa massage. She is extremely skilled and knowledgeable about the muscle systems in the human body. And we're great friends. Under these circumstances, and given the price difference, a massage is not what I'm looking for from a provider.

I would however recommend adding a massage therapist to your life. It's great for your health and your state of mind. Anyone who hobbies could afford one pretty easily.

As a certified massage therapist, I agree that there is a difference.  However, during a session I think deep body work would take away from the sensual experience.

I have given massages during sessions before.  In the beginning of an appointment with a nervous newbie, or after the first trip to shangra la for older gentlemen.   Never do I do the same type of body work that I do when "giving a massage" to a civie.  For one, that massage requires me to keep my clothes on.  :)

Just my $.02.

Happy holidays....

For all I know, you've started to specialize in training newbies, and now have legions of them waiting to do your every bidding.

But I do know that this newbie got a package in the mail yesterday, for use the next time I see you. Ponder that one.

have had formal training, and are very good. One is a licensed massage therapist, and is awesome. My son is nationally certified, and teaches several techniques of massage therapy. He has taught me a lot, and I can certainly tell the difference between a masseuse, and a massage therapist.

And no, MrFisher, you are not alone. I absolutely love the addition of a good massage in between the acts, and love to recipricate, as well.

I don't place any importance on it but I won't turn it down either.  I think there is a fine line, OK, maybe not so fine, between using a massage as a stall and offering it as part of a breather between pops or at the end of the session. I don't do 60 minute sessions so I'm not really in a hurry.  I had a great massage about a month ago from a new girl that I had been wanting to see for a couple of years. She started off the session with it as we chatted and got to know each other.  She "flipped" me and went to work on the good stuff...

Of course, there are some non-gfe types out there who will use a massage and a rapid hand job to try and kill time and bring an early end to the session. I've wound up in a room with a few of these ladies in my time but not as much since I discovered TER and started avoiding Craig's List.

I love a massage. A certified therapist professional no-sex massage is great. But, I have to admit, that a skillful (even if not professionally trained) provider that gives a nice massage is a gem.

I wonder, if what it is that I am after is prolonged sensual touching?

The last provider I saw gave an awesome massage when I asked her for one and it was as good as the main event...dare I say I too am getting on in years and it crossed my mind it was as good as the main event.

Unlike some responses, if nicely given, I do not consider a massage subterfuge by the provider to avoid more sex. IT is just 'different' sex. A good massage requires empathy and involvement...a massage girl friend experience.

My favorite massage is a gentle one, where the lady cradles my nut-sack.  I don't suppose that would be classified as therapeutic, but then again, I'm no doctor.

Oh yeah, that's as therapeutic as it gets!!!

I often get and really appreciate a good theraeutic massage from a well trained certified massage therapist.
From a lovely provider I appreciate 2 or three hours of good company, cuddles, sex,and conversation.
I have trouble joining the two in my mind.  But I can understand those who link the two.

AS AN ALTERNATIVE MEDICAL PRACTIONER THAT WENT TO A SCHOOL THAT TEACHES CERTIFIED MASSAGE THERAPY AND NOW DATES THE DEAN OF THE MASSAGE SCHOOL.  I CAN TELL YOU THAT ANYTHING OTHER THEN MASSAGE IS GREATLY FROWNED UPON IN THIS FIELD.  BUT IM TALKING ABOUT LADIES THAT ARE CERTIFIED AND STATE LICENSED.  THESE STUDENTS SPEND ALOT OF TIME IN ETHICS CLASSES AS WELL LEARNING HOW TO RECOGNIZE GUYS LOOKING FOR MORE AND AVOID THEM AS THEY CAN LOSE THEIR STATE AND NATIONAL LICENSE PERMENANTLY.  THATS ALOT TO LOSE WHEN YOU CONSIDER THE PRICE OF SCHOOL.   THATS NOT TO SAY THAT BOTH WORLDS DONT COLLIDE.  JUST DONT ASK A CMT FOR MORE TEN A MASSAGE, BUT IF YOUR CURRENT PROVIDER IS AN EX-THERAPIST OR NOT STATE LICENSED HAVE AS MUCH FUN AS SHE ALLOWS.  PLEASE JUST DONT CONFUSE THE TWO. ( CMT AND LMT NOT ONLY SUBJECT THEMSELVES TO HARSHER LEGAL PENALTIES FOR WHAT MAY BE CONSIDERED IN APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR, THEY MUST ALSO ANSWER TO STATE AND FEDERAL LICENSING BOARDS THAT CAN LEVY HARSH FINANCIAL PENALTIES)

Maybe it's that we're both docs, but I can't put a therapeutic massage in the same part of my brain as sex.  It would be like wanting a provider to fix a dental cavity.

But I don't hold out hope of finding one woman who does all three.

My perfect day would start with a yoga class, then a real massage, then a nap, and then wild sex.  Maybe some food and wine mixed in there also.

I've found a perfect CMT who does sensual, but no FS...

I've never had a really great massage from a provider...

And I drool over half the women in my yoga classes.  I did have a session with a provider whose real life job includes teaching yoga, and the sex was mindblowing.

They are into all three, and travel to most major cities.

It appears that there is a goodly number of clients who appreciate a massage as a part of the routine, so to speak.

For any providers that would want some lessons in what to do, I'd be more than happy to oblige.
