It has come down to the fact that my Razer phone is starting to act like a decrepid geriatric...Love my baby, but it is time to move on.
So, to all any any techy-savvy folk out there, thoughts on the Blackberry? (I know it's been out for a bit, but I am a primate like anyone else and am comfortable with certain gadgets) Something that would allow ever constant access to my email? I'm not sure the Iphone is ideal, as it's almost too much...
What do you say?

It does the job fine. If you use Outlook for email and/or calendar, a Blackberry synchronizes quite nicely.

I haven't tried an iPhone, so I can't offer a comparison.

because for me, the blackberry is too much and I like the ease of use on iphones.  Seriously chickie, we could do this when you are in the cities again!  At the very least, I could show the way around mine to see if it would be a good fit (it's an 8800).

I just purchased a Blackberry because 1) I needed a number specific only to the biz 2) able to leave a VM message to let potential 'friends' know I'm not able to take appoinments that day 3) a device able to access email that was much easier to hide than a laptop!

It is a little complicated, I'm still trying to figure some things out!  Also, at first the keyboard is tricky!

I'm a hard-core bb user. It's great if you want it primarily for email. The IPhone is not as good for email because it doesn't have a real keyboard, but it's incomparably better for internet access. Nothing else I know of even comes close. If you basically just want to talk on the phone, I think the real issue is whether the ATT network (only option for the IPhone) is the best (or good enough) for the areas where you will be doing most of the talking. You can get the bb on any of several networks.

faster or more reliably than a blackberry...period.

Also the technology syncs with Outlook so smoothly to transfer your calendar and contacts from phone to PC and PC to Phone.

I was a late convert to Blackberry, but now I can't stand to be without it and the instant delivery of email and information that it does so well!

Best of luck!

I hear GREAT things about the Blackberry, especially if you are just getting into the swing of the PDA/smartphones.

I myself have a Pocket PC phone, just the geek in me. ;)

One thing to keep in mind, I read this in a cell phone magazine, is that when it comes to email/texts the iPhone can not even do a simple task of copy and paste. Not good is you need to work with a lot of emails/texts. :(

Research is key, good luck!

If email access is what you want the BB is best.  I love mine.  However, I also love my iPhone even though email isn't its real thing - but its fun and really quite intuitive..  For me former is for work and later for play.

...I'm a geek at heart...

It left too much stubble.

(Ba-doom)

What ever you do, don't get my brand of phone which is a Kyocera.

It must have been made in Coo-coo land.

It would take me too long to list everything that is wrong with it.

My problem is that I need a phone without a camera on it as my job takes me to facilities that ban having any kind of cameras on the premises, yet I need to stay in touch by phone.

Does anyone know of such a phone that is good and reliable?  I don't really need anything more than a phone.

I've had the best luck with Motorola telephones.  (Here comes the firestorm.)

There are several options available thru AT&T and Tracfone that dont have cameras. They usually go on a month to month plan, and I have no problem with either one of them. One for hobby, and one for regular life. Also, no contracts for me.

Hope this helps,

B.

I must say I really like my phone; many different features (including email, maps, Internet) and super easy to use.  However, the lack of a real keyboard really is a pain at first... I'm used to it now, so not a problem anymore :)

All in all, I'd recommend going into one of the stores and trying out both (bb and iphone).  See what works for you!! Good luck :)

P.S.  Keep in mind, you can't purchase insurance on the iPhone, so if you get it, take good care of it LOL.

But all I got was a purple mouth and ears!

They are much better for pies.

There's ringer issues with the blackberry and yes, while you get your emails on there, that's nice, but it still is not as cool as people make it out to be. It also randomly turns off on you sometimes. I've had to get 3 replaced before I said fuck it and got a better phone.

I have had my 7130 for 2 years now and have never had a problem with it.

I can get all of my eamil accounts forwarded to it and I can search the web any time.

I especially like the fact that I have constant contact with TER, if I choose........LOL

I know some don't care for it, but I have downloaded several ring tones that work great and are real music, not just digital tones.

Just my opinion...

You must have gotten a lemon. I've had an older one for years and it has been wonderfully reliable. I know there were problems with some of the models, though.

To start, I am an AT&T girl.

My last Razr was a few years ago.  It was adorable with the Swaroski crystals that I custom placed, etc...

But it fell off of a balcony.

So I replaced with a BlackJack.  I liked it but the Internet and Email is VERY VERY slow.  To the point of being annoying.  That fell in the spa.

So the IPhone was the same place, and I was horrified!  Like you, I thought it was too complicated.  The most complicated part was driving home with NO cell phone (aside from my work phone) and starting service myself online.
(Registering it yourself takes all of 8 minutes, by the way.)

It will change your life!  Even if you are not on WiFi, the Internet is fast and Emails are IMMEDIATE.  This helps when I'm on the road:  I can sit in terminal 4 and access my Emails in a snap.

It has a built in GPS that will take you from the exact spot you are, to the place you are going.  Up to the minute traffic reports also on your screen.

If you plug it in to your IPod/other MP3 player, you will not have to disengage and "lose" your phone, texts, or Emails from coming through.  The phone will turn off the music and calls will ring through.

The earbuds have mics in them so you can drive/walk/whatever hands-free.  Quality is the BEST I've ever heard, and the listener on my other end NEVER has issues hearing me.

The screen will take about a week to get used to, but there are tuturiols online and classes held at the Apple store if you are really having problems.

I rave about things I believe in, and IPhone will seriously make your life easier!

Apple hugs
