There are a number of ladies used money earned in this hobby to support themselves through college.  Although stripping is not the same as escorting, it is still fascinating to read about a young woman’s journey through stripping, college and the real world.

It was well written, but it wasn't particularly interesting. Stripping is stripping no matter the motives behind it. A more interesting book about the business is Brothel by Alexa Albert.

I escorted to pay for graduate school. Besides escorting, my life was no different than any other 26 year-old and still isn't. I spent lots of time writing papers, dating for personal pleasure, going out with my girlfriends, and even more time being entertained by my silly parents. I do the same things other young women do in a day....go to Starbucks, read the Times, go to the gym, go out to lunch with my mom, see a play or movie, respond to email, read and then go to bed. Though most people would be surprised, life as an escort hasn't been filled with the glamour or excitement portrayed in the movies. I'm finished with graduate school, but am still escorting. I cannot find a job in my field. I've had several interveiws. Nothing has come to fruition as of yet. Thank goodness for men:-)

or a joke even, college-girl escorts/strippers abound in academic strongholds like Boston and NY (perhaps also true in the Bay Area)

clearly it's often used as a ruse (by agencies) to entice guys and/or to add a touch of class and dignity to younger providers without either. but here in NE we often have the pleasure to come across the real deal. most of them are happy to talk "class" and their eloquence and cultured mind often shows through. granted  it's not the main reason why i see them, but it's a definite plus

the distinction between strippers and escorts is to me a fascinating one. although i actually once encountered a stripper who was a sciences grad-student at one of the most prestigious universities in the world (take your pick, there's only 2 of them, both in Boston ;)  i find that the majority of the strippers are NOT in fact in college and use that tired old line to reel in extra cash from gullible customers ("think of my student loans!")

i think if i was a legit college-girl stripper and concerned about being exposed (and possibly face ridicule by my classmates) i would be more inclined to go into the more secret world of providerhood where clients are more discreet/screened and visibility is far far less compared to a strip club where any male neanderthal with $5 could ogle me and blab about it to his friends and co-workers

but since i'm not a female (but who really knows for sure on this board! ;) i don't claim to know what goes on in the mind of women in regards to either of these side-occupations.

Only 2 prestigious universities in the world, and both are in Boston?  Ever hear of a couple of universities named Oxford and Cambridge, or Princeton and Columbia, or for that matter the ONLY university in the United States that's ranked in the top 10 in ALL graduate programs (Law, Medicine, Business, Engineering and Health Sciences), which happens to be located in Ann Arbor, Michigan and has a pretty good football team as well?  Sorry, I couldn't resist this, although admittedly I probably just pissed off the Stanford folks, to say nothing of those from Cal, Chicago and Yale.

better in many scientific field than Harvard and MIT.

There are indeed many fine art college students in SF who are also strippers.

I agree with you that "I'm just a lil college girl getting by" is often used by strippers and in fact is just a ruse.

However, I do know a few strippers who are real college students. I know one in Florida who strips on weekends and summer vacations. She drives an hour away so she doesn't run into anybody she knows. Her fellow students think she has rich parents because she drives a nice SUV. :)

On the other hand, recently I talked to a stripper at a club here in my city in the southwest.  She said she "loved dolphins" and was going to start school "any time now" to be a marine biologist. Very sweet sentiment indeed.

I didn't have the heart to remind her we are living in the desert--no dolphins, and no marine programs here. :)

Looking back, though, maybe I should have suggested she change her line to something more believable...maybe "I want to study the dear little gila monster; they're so misunderstood". :)

comment about Harvard/MIT would get a rise out of the rest of you!  ... ROFLMAO!

it's like playing a Stradivarius ...  you know exactly how it's going to sound and ring out like a bell! ... LOL

now watch someone get up and say "Pish-Posh .. I'll have you know my Guarneri has more clarity than a Strad on a wet humid day in Samoa!"  ;-)

were getting rich left and right while those from Harvard and MIT had to travel across the country, establish new contacts and work underneath those CA grads.

My brother was one of those who made the wrong choice of going to Harvard (for the prestigious name and the Harvard club) instead of UCB.

I find it interesting how it seems to rarely occur to people on this board that perhaps a person might not be inclined to have sex with total strangers...I guess we all just take it for granted that since we are kewl with it, the rest of the world is as well.

I'm not flaming...again, it is just that I find it curious that it would occur to you that the BIG difference between "stripping" and "providing" is SEX...and of course physical safety.

By comparison, having a guy "ogle" to me seems pretty tame...and who cares what he says to his friends and co workers?

Someone finally did help me find that place.  I surprised my friend, we had a few laughs, and met later for dinner.  Persistence paid off in this case, thanks to the NY board.  Now tell us all again how you knew you'd "get a rise out of everyone" with your comment about prestigious universities.  Like I said before, simpleton fits better than singleton.  Bye-bye now.

One of the more amusing moments in life is when a stripper backs her shaven crotch into your face and purrs that she is a 'Special Ed' major.  A true moment of zen.  If you frequent strip clubs, this can happen to you every other week or so.
