I thought the women fared well and were not demoralized as in other shows..It showed class instead of degradation..

No women was made to look like she had no where to turn or was ruining her life..The small bleep about the sex trafficking not being what the media has portrayed shocked me..I would not have thought that they would admit this to the public.

It will be interesting to see who else felt the same

I thought that it was very even handed and well researched.  I was surprised to see this subject treated in a fair and objective manner and not sensationalized.

It was nice to see some discussion of the concept of GFE and that men may just want something other than sex, sex, sex.

I completely agree with one of the statements: Men will tell providers things that they won't tell anyone else.  I felt this way from day one. I was  surprised to hear it on a TV show.

Your handle was on the screen when they scrolled down the TER discussion board, as was many of you frequent posters, LOL.

I agree with you, everyone was portrayed positively. I wasn't expecting them to focus on TER as much as they did, if at all. I would expect business to pick up here for a while.

I think all it did is give the curious somewhere to look, not much new info.

A good depiction of our hobby. I've not posted on TER for a long while, but have to comment that "Dirty Money" was a subtle watershed in our niche society. No, I don't work for MSNBC.

As a man I'm glad they didn't portray us a johns. And some of the real diversity of the motivation and personalities of the ladies were shown, not the cliche'd victims most moralizing media have preferred.

This is a complex emotional activity and the network, for once, alluded to some of its humanity.

What can you say, sex sells and who knows makes more money off sex stories than NBC.  If it's not setting up pedophile stings for the PD, then it's exploiting prostitution.

How many millions did they make in ad revenue for that show?  Probably more than all the escorts in the entire country make in a week.  How much of their profits did they donate to helping girls who want to leave the biz?

Watched the late version.  I thought overall that the show was not overly judgmental or moralizing.  Yet, it concentrated on the ultra-high end, which most of us hobbyists are not wealthy enough to aspire to.  Some of us make six figures, but cannot drop $3.5K for four hours, no matter how hot the lady is, under normal circumstances.  Fortunately, the show, while mentioning TER, did not dwell.

 
Agree that the show did not degrade any of the women involved, but provided a pretty accurate picture.  I was drawn to the mention that it is not just about the sex...it is about connection.  For me, whom has an ATF, this is the primary driver, although the bedtime follies are very important!

Just my two pennies...

This is one of the reasons for blocking blurring the facial features folks!!!! It will be great for business though!

From most of the comments, though, they seem to have avoided the usual moralizing junk.  This is important.  Two of my daughters live in California and were against the San Fransisco initiative to prevent the arrest of providers (Though they are both very liberal) because of what they assure me are the "great number of women forced into the life against their wishes."  They are bright educated women, but have bought the propaganda which reminds me of the anti pot films they used to show us in High School.

Do you think this is going to bring undo heat our way..The Feds seem to be very active and have large sums of money not like local LE. There laws are different as well.

It seemed to me to more accurately depict the experiences I've had, although I'm not in the $25k/weekend group.  The ladies I've met have, for the most part, been well educated, respectful, and sophisticated.  I like that the progam broke from the stereotypical drug addict street walker profile that is presented so often in the media, TV and film.  And a main point resonated with me...it's not all about the sex.

The show was rather even handed which was a nice surprise although it still irks me that people agree to interview for these shows.  I understand it may in the hopes that we won't be seen as victims but instead as adults who make our own choices but ultimately who wins?
The increased attention, the flashes or featuring of screennames, websites, even pictures of ladies can cause more harm than good.  Each of these shows puts women in harm's way because they flash a picture,  name, a review page to show how prevalent it is but they forget they are also using a person to garner ratings; a person who had no say.
So, the question then is whose money is dirtier?  Mine or theirs?  I engage in an activity where each adult involved consents.  They grab pictures, sites, reviews, and names without consent using them to increase viewership and ultimately ad revenue.  Sounds like women being used for a network's greater gain to me.

I agree it is unsettling to see who you may know or yourself flashed across the tv screen but once you put it uot there on the web, lets face it its somewhat up for grabs to who ever wishes to view it.

it does not excuse the blatant disregard of our safety.  They are profiting off of our backs while putting us in jeopardy.  Once again: are they any better than those they say victimize us?

the morals and scruples of NBC and GE (parent company) have slid tremendously, since Jack Welch left as CEO. It's Jeffery Immelt now. I better quit now before I'm banished to the P&R board forever.

I only wish there was as much outrage over the failure of a ballot measure in San Francisco to not enforce California's prostitution laws as there is over the passage of propostion 8 which bans gay/lesbian marriage.

The problem is that open minded and liberal people tend to favor Gay marriage (I mean no offense to religious people and others who deeply believe that this is a strictly religious/moral question; I just happen to believe it is a question of human rights which is a moral question to me) while many liberal open minded women find providing and pornography anti feminist and degrading to women (I can't understand how adult free providers who are earning good money and are independent are being degraded unless sex itself is somehow degrading.)   I also find this a question of human rights.  Many politicians will speak up in favor of gay marriage rights,but find me any but a few who will defend providing or adult pornography.

ya i was a little annoyed to see my screen name flash when they showed the forums, but ehh, not worried in long run

it did bother me that they mentioned specific names of people and showed their web sites since i don't think it really furthers the story any. Just kinda says we can do whatever we want and you have no recourse and of course since your really really attractive people are gonna watch the show and we get higher ratings

over all i didn't think the show was that bad, it was just those things that bothered me. In a general sense it has always bugged me that when women use their attractiveness and sexuality as an asset to achieve success its often looked down on by certain segments of society. Regardless of what profession they are in. Always annoyed me, when is the last time some one criticized someone for using their brains to achieve success in life

I thought the show was put together very well. It was nice to see a show concerning our Hobby that wasn't all about making everyone look horrible for being involved.

None of them could make it as an actual provider, so they choose to be on the fringes of the business.

Funny how it fades into a TBD discussion board eventually.

I wouldn't worry about the feds. The IRS has been wise to this for a long time and the show didn't rub their noses in it. Status quo will continue.

Nothing we haven't seen one all the other shows they've done. The ads pitched the show as some kind of inside scoop & expose but it was no more than a beginners guide to the hobby.


The incessant close ups and flashing and close ups of web site images started giving me a headache.  And the woman commentator sounded like a gossip rag type show, over sensationalizing everything she said during the entire show. I watched the last 20 minutes on mute.  


I did get a chuckle though once during the show when they were talking about TER.  They were flashing web site images on the screen and showed the "juicy details" of a review.  Apparently the guy got a very nice BBBJ

And one pointed out on the NY board that her site was included, and that she was displeased about it.  Do I think it was good or bad publicity?  Probably bad.  There is that saying that any publicity is good publicity, but most of the ladies whom were included have generally posted negatively.  On the other hand, the lady who posted on the NY board did include a link to her site in her post, and I at least checked it out thoroughly.  FWIW, she increased her visibility at least for a day in NYC...who knows, she may get appointments out of it when she visits...
