I know Tony George kinda killed the mystique of the race when he split into his own faction and the race was contested by 2nd rate drivers for a decade but was wondering if anyone had any picks for the Indy 500 this weekend.
This is also a weekend that could be lucrative for providers visiting Indianapolis this weekend too by the way.
My pick, sentimental perhaps, is for Marco Andretti. Hey a whole decade of pulling for Micheal Andretti to win one went for not so now I gotta hope Marco can find a way to cross the line first.
What are your picks. Picking Danica is ok but not on the basis of f**ability. Milka Duno is a REALLY crummy driver but she ranks higher in the looks department than Danica in my opinion. And this is just rating female race drivers, they are only going to be so hot right.

I'm glad, no really really glad, that you let that be known. Most people who dont care probably just wouldnt respond but hey some us have more time on our hands and are more abnoxious than others.

I used to care, and used to go to Indianapolis every year. Then as tallslim mentioned, Tony George went ape$hit in 1997 (wasn't it?) and I haven't been able to get interested since then.
Guess I'll root for Danica or Milka just to see a woman win. I met Lyn St. James (one of their few predecessors) when I was there in the early 1990's - a real class act.
I think I'll probably be pulling for Danica. I just happen to think she's not only hot, but she's a class act. She's put up with a lot of shit to get where she is, and I give her a lot of credit for overlooking some of the assholes that she's had to endure.
I assume that Robby Gordon, the NASCAR and former open wheel driver, that said that her lesser weight gave her an advantage would be one of those assholes..lol...I actually like Robby Gordon but those comments weren't really all that valid, her weight would only garner her a miniscule advanatage if any.
I have no problem with Danica, she drives for Andretti/Green Racing so I wouldn't mind seeing her win. But the win should be accredited to her, it should not be a platform for some social statement. I still remember watching the 500 a few years back when she ran there for the first time and was leading late in the race. The announcer, who was some guy that looked like he came off a GQ magazine and only lasted a year, was sounding as if he was having an orgasm before she was passed for the lead,he was way over the top.
Then as Dan Wheldon is leading the final laps toward the win, the camera is focused on Danica who was dropping back to 4th. That rubbed alot of people, including me, the wrong way. It is a shame that she is targeted with criticsm for things like that when the media is the one who is to account.
Hot hot hot.

Her driving is atrocious, she's pretty hot though.
...you look at a woman's website, and look for the topless or nude pictures, and look for a rates page...
...I gotta get away from TER for a while.
I mean, I truly love women! the other night - at my strip club... a gal was dancing for me... and complained that I had not had her dance for me on a previous night... I commented that I had come in and wished a specific lady to spend time with.... and that I just need to focus on one at a time... she laughed - and said, "hey! you really like women!" I responded - after a little bit of thought "yea, guess I do."
The hobby? A rational approach to the fact that I do like women, and have found that I do actually enjoy variety... and I do find that the ladies of TER offer about as much variety as one can handle! they each offer something different. But I gotta say, I too, wonder and fantasize - my list? and interesting one... Danica is only one on the list... and I do find her interesting - and as I have posted numerous times... I have to see something of a personality - and Danica seems to have one... the GoDaddy commercial, the FHM poses and all the other stuff... personality! I'll be she would be a fascinating person just to talk with... and I would love to just go to dinner with her, and listen to her stories... but hey, lets not limit ourselves to racing - Erica Blasberg ain't so bad either... I've had a crush on Katarina Witt forever! soooo... I guess the point is, we've beautiful women in the hobby who are willing to spend time with us... as long as we compensate them for their time... ain't life grand!
and THAT is my take home lesson from TER! not bad eh?!
I guess I just like to obfuscate everything; but WHY is it always LEFT in Indy Car & NASCAR?
Maybe NASCAR drivers just want as much distance from the "wall" as possible; but Indy Cars they sit dead center between the wheels; so why can't a couple of right handers (and maybe some elevation changes) be thrown into the mix too make it interesting...Like Formula 1 racing

I agree that the higher skill drivers are in F1. NASCAR is always turn right with the exception on 2 races, most of those drivers couldn't drive an open wheel car to save their lives. Exceptions are Tony Stewart, JeffGordon, Robby Gordon, and all of the Indy car drivers that have left Indy car for the exposure of NASCAR (Francitti,Hornish,Carpantier,Montoya etc)
Half of Indycar's races are street or road courses with left and right turns. American open wheel racing was transformed 10 years ago when Tony George started up his own league which ran on ovals only. This was just a powergrab that has too many details too mention here.
Oval racing is more appealing to on track fans because you can see more of the action. Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee is an example. Indy is so large though(2.5 miles) that you can only see one corner or one straight.
Road courses and street courses dont allow on track fans to see much of the action either, just their corner.
Formula 1 is alot like soccer, Americans have no clue how big it is in Europe but it just doesn't capture many fans here in America.
and the track doesn't make the skill any more difficult, it just calls on different skills. The nature of competition means the drivers are going to make it just as hard for themselves.
An F1 driver is going to have as much trouble on an oval track as a NASCAR driver will have on a road circuit.
Thank you. Thank you very much.
But seriously, I really was. That makes me very special in this thread.
Again, thank you all very much. No really, all the applause is not necessary.
it's a reminder that it's your birthday. It is truly Memorial.
Just kidding - but you leave yourself open like that, you gotta expect somebody will take your straight line.

but I'd put most of the ones I HAVE seen at the top of any 500 Best Indys list.
I usually do that and more on a typical date.
