I was talking to someone at an agency and they told me a girl was a town and country girl.  what does town and country mean???

an upscale magazine for society people who live in places like Palm Beach, the Hamptons, and Palm Springs.  My jaundiced view of a Town & Country girl is that she plays tennis in the morning, sits by the pool while the maid serves her iced tea in the afternoon, retires for a nap and then a private massage from her on-staff masseur; showers and dons her white blouse and Burbury skirt; has cocktails on the patio with hubby who wears a blue blazer, khakis and a rep tie and "manages" their investments; then they go to the Junior League benefit for dinner and dancing; she has her picture snapped and waits for it to appear in, yes, Town & Country.
