I recently turned away from 'visitors' when my date-check refs. weren't enough. Is there a reason for 'more info' than what is offered there? I'm simply not comfortable with offering more than that. There is more than a 'handfull' of opportunity on that site(concerning me)to 'check-out.

if you are not verified by another provider many ladies will not see you or may want more info. Some ladies want you to have seen at least 2 providers to feel safe an others even more. Each lady picks her own level of comfort just like you.

However every lady is entitled to run her business as she sees fit.

I think you'll find that most ladies who have profiles on one or both sites will accept the verification that comes from your referrals. If you have several referrals through the sites, I've found that they don't ask for any more than that. Of course, there will always be some ladies who will want more information for them to feel safe, and that's entirely up to them. When you think about it, if a lady were to accept less verification than she is truly comfortable with, your time with her is probably not going to be as enjoyable.

If she's not comfortable with less information, she's not going to see you. If you're not comfortable with more information, you're not going to see her. There are ladies on both sites who will meet your comfort level.

One just has to furnish adequate information for a ladies comfort if either are going to enjoy an appointment.  
I'm a big believer in the rights of individuals to self defense including weapons...  but lets be real here.  No one is going to be packing iron while they're naked...  except in movies!  If everyone is packing, how'll we be able to id the LEOs?

Concealed carry is legal in quite a few states, including mine.

My general thought is that escorts carry a lot of cash (or, at least they do after they've seen me -- lol), so just on that basis alone they are no different from the owner of a jewelry store.

I know a lot of ladies are pretty liberal and wouldn't trust themselves (?!?) with a gun. But some WOULD. And the bad guys would never know which lady had a Glock next to her condom supply -- and that would be a huge deterrent.

Criminals are looking for disarmed victims and easy marks. They aren't looking for a challenge or to risk death themselves. Once a few escorts popped caps in some scumbag ass, the whole world would change.

Or, then again, guys could just verify themselves so they can be held accountable for their behavior, and escorts then need carry nothing more dangerous than their professional skills.

Never own/carry/use a firearm that is of such caliber that you cannot control the recoil, as you may need to fire more than one shot to stop the son-of -a -bitch.

Yes you ladies should be able to protect yourselves, but however anyone and everyone who has a firearm MUST know how to use it, control it, and all the safety stuff.

this isn't going to be popular, but I think that all of the "referals" are ridiculous. This is suppose to be a nameless, faceless profession. As grown adults, you take a certain amount of responsibility for your decisions. I knew going in, that there were risks to both my mind and my body. But the need out weighted the risk.
When I started, I got a call from a guy who asked if I had a TER review. Being as I had only seen 2 guys, both off cl, I hadn't. This guy said that he'd call when I did. Now how is someone suppose to get a first review, if nobody gives her a chance? Also, how is a man suppose to have references, if nobody gives him a chance? It's like those employers who have a job position that you know you can do, but they want someone with previous experience. Catch 22.
The only thing that you can do is cop check (they can't show you their dicks if their cops) and don't talk any business until he's naked.
And if some big guy tries to hurt you, grow a set and remember that you're not a victim. I don't care how scarey he is, never let him see you sweat. I'm 5'2", 200 lbs at the time (little bit more now), but this man was about 6'3', a good 300 lbs. Back in the day, I never asked for the donation up front (yes learned my lesson), when he went to leave, he hadn't given me anything. So my bif Irish ass, planted myself between him and the door, out me foot against it, popped my chest and chin out and confronted him. He then pointed out that he put it on the dresser, so I smiled, said "my bad" and opened the door. He started laughing and said, "you were gonna jack me", I told him, I don't care how big someone is, they may even kill me, but I never go down without a fight. It's the Irish thing I think.
I take the risk, thank God that most guys who have some to see men, have been totally cool, but the 2-3 that weren't, were shown that they can't intimidate me. You know I love your posts and generally agree with you.  However, this time I have to disagree.  I don't think it's a good idea for providers to carry guns.  I would bet that 6' 200 lb martial artist 9 times out of 10 would overpower any sized woman and in turn would use the weapon against her.

Nope....better for the lady to take a self defense course and carry mace.

Being verified is good, but not everybody has references.  Even if they do, we don't know how long ago it was unless we verify.

I have a problem when the name you provide me does not match the letters in your Date-Check member number.  If you've playing under a different name than that on your license (which I ask to see for all first time guests), it doesn't matter how many references you've seen because I can't be certain that YOU have seen them and not your buddy Joe or your cousin Fred.  If your Date-Check member number and photo ID don't match, you could give your DC number to anyone and they could contact me and then I have no idea who I'm truly seeing.  

This scenario has happened recently and it was not pleasant for either party.

Being careful and taking a gun safety course goes without saying.  I was not implying that anyone/everyone should own or carry a gun.  My personal opinion is that if you are not prepared to use it, then you shouldn't own it.  THAT is when the tables get turned and your attacker notices your hesitancy and uses you weapon against you.  Just as having the correct caliber gun is important.  I have fired a 50 caliber gun.  Would I use one to protect myself?  Hell no.  It scared the crap out of me.  lol A 9mm fits quite nicely in my hand, thank you very much.  (don't worry - it's still not legal in Md to carry a concealed weapon, lol - I just rely on my blackbelt skill to keep my safe while on an appointment.)

I was not suggesting that you would do anything foolish or unsafe, just a general sataement, and wanting to emphasis the point that all you gals should have the right to protect yourselves, 9mm is a good choice.
Last time I fired a 50 it was mounted on a river boat a long, long time ago and a long, long way from here.

What other methods of verification would you use outside of date-check and how far would you go to extrapolate what you need in order to make a sound choice ? I know that in the civilian world it is also common for women to google potential suitors. I was wondering have you done that as well?.

I'll settle for providers carrying mace, but what I'd rather see is ladies screen well so that they don't need to use anything more dangerous than a DFK. (And with some providers, that's absolutely deadly -- lol)

Of course, some would argue that what providers do might be illegal. And if that's the case, they most assuredly shouldn't be armed -- especially with a firearm -- while undertaking such an endeavor; because that could tack on 5 years of jail time all by itself. So under the status quo -- I totally agree that mace and/or some self defense training is a good idea but firearms aren't.

As for being disarmed -- yes and no. People who are properly trained in how to use a pistol for self defense are trained in proper weapon retention so that, ideally, even a bad-ass like myself wouldn't stand a chance.

But, it is a sad reality that many are not fully and properly trained; and also don't have the proper attitude. When you produce a pistol in response to immediate, inescapable, life-threatening risk -- you don't engage in idle conversation like in the movies. Instead you yell as loudly and as terrified as possible for the individual to stop and then keep shooting until s/he stops. Places like Gunsite and Lethal Forces Institute (my fave) offer appropriate training.

I realize this is a horrifying image to contemplate. But consider the fact that in any lethal encounter between two people, only one walks away. 9-1-1 doesn't respond quickly enough to prevent a murder. Only one person is already on the scene and capable of stopping that crime.

Admittedly, I have some biases because I like the providers I have seen as people; and think they are good people. I would rather it be them who walks away.

I've always felt funny about them anyway and, frankly, I really don't want some lady to know what other ladies I may have slept with. It's really nobody's business.

But at the same time, if a guy wants to skip that, he should really be willing to share his valid identification with the provider in advance so he can be verified, checked against a sex offender registry, etc.

I wish you luck relying on your bad ass attitude to keep you safe.  

A funny correlation coming to mind are drug dealers.  Back in the day, the friends in my social circles always knew EXACTLY who their dealers were and the dealers knew who they were.  They also didn't stand on the street corner serving everyone, they relied on word of mouth referrals.

Without going into a rant I'll simply say that it's remarkably ignorant and heartless to say "we do it to ourselves."  You know, when someone gets raped or murdered THEY did not do that to themselves.
