Do I tell them what I know about the hobby or just stay out of it and let them figure it out on their own?

We've been friends for 3-4 years. Both girls are class act and totally clueless about the hobby lol.

Depending on your relationship (and trust) with them I would share this with them.  Didnt you wish you had someone to help you out in the beginning? Especially the safety factor. I mean MOST of us figure it out, but there were PLENY of times I wish I had more help. I have been fortunate and got some wonderful and useful information from a friend in the business and some GREAT and well meaning clients (as well as THIS AWESOME board!) Just MY thoughts!

Sorta depends on whether or not you want them to know about your hobby life, I would think.....  Not sure what I would do in your shoes.

I sure wish someone had done so for me a little over one year ago.  I have had to learn about a lot of things the hard way.  I look back on some of my mistakes, and I just cringe.

I think you can steer them in the right direction without coming out and telling them you hobby, if you do not want them to know.  You can casually mention a website you have heard of without saying you frequent it or search reviews there.  You can teach them how to be careful as a concerned friend without saying you hobby.  I am sure no woman would be surprised that a man knows a bit about the hobby, whether or not he partakes in it, he still is aware of what is out there.

You can share some links with them with rules of safety and say that after they shared their intentions with you, you decided to do some research for them, because you were worried about them. A concerned friend, again.

I firmly believe there are ways to guide them without revealing anything you choose not to reveal.

Just some thoughts.

so might as well help them out. since you know that they're considering it, i don't think they'd have anything over you.

or you could just tell them you have a friend who hobbies, and he can help guide them in the right direction.

Stay out of it. You have little to no upside, and you never know where the downside id.

And this is assuming they do not know a thing about you being in the hobby and all your wisdom there-of.

I would recommend you somehow first see if you can recommend some current experienced provider give them advice. This provider needs to be of a helping kind and understand all the mistakes she made starting out.

Secondly, you can easily convey to them this site called The Erotic Review that somebody sent you a link to. Explain that this is the authoritative reference on the hobby and being a provider. They can sign up for free and lurk around and read things like the newbie board or their regional board. The GD is over their head perhaps as a lot of BS gets thrown around here.

Let them find out for themselves. Then if they decide to jump into it give me a PM with their phone numbers for additional advice. roflmfao

... but every time a provider posts about how she has to deal with a guy's shitty asscrack, corn growing in his navel, moldy(!!) clothes as well as how many of their clients are fat, ugly, etc. I say to myself: "Providing must be a horrible horrible job."

Providers post these things repeatedly, so it is clearly something they consider an important aspect of their career decision.

So, I would inform my girlfriends that they can expect the following:

1. Clients who double-book and cancel at the last minute
2. Clients who short the envelope
3. Clients who stink to high heaven and refuse to shower even when offered, and then dock their review for performance
4. Clients who are 2-3 times as old as them and whose dentures keep falling out
5. Clients who have dingleberries in their ass crack and insist on being rimmed
6. Even more clients who won't wash their ass crack
7. Did I mention clients who won't wash their ass crack?
8. Clients who weigh 300-400+ pounds

And, for less frequently mentioned but nevertheless problematic stuff; find posts where some providers get demeaned so frequently they consider it part of the job!

Then, tell them to imagine the ugliest, stinkiest, most unclean guy on the planet who hasn't seen a toothbrush or washcloth in about a year; and imagine french kissing that guy convincingly and swallowing his jizz. And if she holds back, her review score will get clobbered!

Finally, tell them to keep the day job. That day job is GOLD because it will allow them to be SELECTIVE about their clients so they can turn down the bad ones, and keep the good ones. It also gives them a plan B for when they freak out after discovering some client has removed the condom while they weren't looking during anal sex.

All of the above scenarios come from posts (usually but not always aliased) by providers.

Tell them to think about it HARD.

Yes, I am absolutely certain there are some providers out there who have never had to kiss a man who wasn't as handsome as a movie star, as smart as Einstein and as rich as Bill Gates and who tips at the rate of $100/minute.

But I've seen enough ... informational ... posting by providers to believe that providing is a seriously tough business that should be very very very carefully considered.

You are also 100% correct. Still a killjoy though. lol

I can't imagine being a sexual provider unless I had veto power on who I had to fuck.

If they are clueless and you want to help, there's a ton of books, internet sites, and materials about starting an escort business.

Try this for a start -
http://www.theinternetescortshandbook.com/

There are also plenty of boards and forums for the ladies only.  At those sites, lots of experienced ladies dispense good advice and information.  Look directly to your left - see the 'Providers Only' link in the panel?

After you point thme in the right direction, you might want to consider exiting the situation.  After all, it's none of your business.

They're already considering it. WTF?!

I'll be nice. I don't bite. Hard! ;)

Actually, I take that back. But of course, I'm not adverse to be bitten...!

send them a few e-mails with good links like TER link and specifically to helpful posts, even yours!

Do not give up your real TER handle or anything like that.

Maybe even talk to an ATF in your area who would give advice.  Then send another e-mail to your friend & ATF with ATFs contact info.

"Considering providing" is still a LONG way from providing.  And still further from continuing to provide!

Don't do anything else with the e-mail address.
Don't share that you hobby, unless it is ok that everyone in your town knows.

come up with this idea one moring while eating their strawberries and cream?  Class act and totally clueless huh?  They have no idea about this at all?  Yet they be ready to spread them legs and ask for money out of the clear blue?
You better wake up son, I think they probably already dun their homework, and you just too love struck to see it.

Tell ya what, send em to me for an audition!  If they all you say, I'll put em out on a better class street corner.  You know, somplace where they might make $50 bucks for givin Charles Barkley a BJ!

The answer to that question will dictate what you do from there.

civvie friends, wanting to turn HO.  You know, the ladies who are "pure as the driven snow", yet decide to play "pussies for dollars".  These "protectors of women" don't seem to give these ladies much credit!
Had he said "my 13 and 15 year old sisters are considering this, it would have been different.

Wow, that is fucking harsh. Feel bad for the
ladies first off, and also don't want to be next
in line after the dudes you just described. I
hope you are being mostly humorous. You don't
have to be good looking, but at least clean yer
ass up!

What is your relationship to these two?  "friends" covers a lot of turf.

In spite of some of the replies here many women who get into this business do NOT have a clue what it is all about.  There's another thread active right now that asks what mistakes women have made when they were starting out.  There are some scary things like putting your home phone in your ad.  Even if some guys want to believe these kinds of things are "obvious", they aren't.

The two of them have already decided escorting is now too morally reprehensible so if they find out you have dabbled they are not likely to consider you a deamon.  But if they are clueless about screening, advertizing, privacy, how to stay safe, and the business aspects of the business they can get hurt.  These aren't topics usually covered in school or learned in typical day jobs.

For me, if these are my friends whose safety I care about, not just casual aquaintances, I talk with them.

I also sent you a PM.  No sense feeding more chum than necessary in public.  The sharks are already out on this one.

I would give them the name of the most reputable agency in town.  Let the agency take the burden of booking and screening and teach them the ropes.
