If you use DC to verify your clients and don't require ID when you meet then you really don't know who you are playing with.

Quick question for others:

Do they keep a log / history of users previous email / phone number where a provider can look it up and still make a positive match from the old email?  I'm guessing no according to OP's thread.

are the providers we give it to.

Have him log in and update his information.  If he can't do it, then I think someone is playing dangerous games.

You might also ask him for his previous phone #'s and email addresses to verify.  If he can't remember at least the email something is wrong.

Like romeo said, only the client "should" have access to his DC id number but, there are some unscrupulous people out there. People could give out their id number etc. Date Check has a safe word or something like that, which you can ask for. You can also check their id. The date check id is formed from an actual id (using initials and parts of a number)

I like p411, because you can pm the lady straight from there, and exchange pms, so you know it is the person. Also here on TER, using the pm system helps.

You might try to get more references, or see if he is willing to give up his real name and show id.
And you are right. You can never be too paranoid. If you are not comfortable, don't do it.

So a guy has a date check ID number. You still need to check him out. If his e-mail and phone don't match, then that is his problem.

FWIW: It doesn't do you any good to check his ID when he arrives. By the time LE has your location, you are toast. So, you have to make sure you know who he is before you give out that info.

Better to let a few legitimate guys not make it through screening, than to let one bad guy through.

DC has two identifiers:

id NUMBER consists of digits from an official government issued document that almost everyone in the US who is over 18 has. I'm pretty sure that it is private until disclosed to a provider for verification. That could be a leak.

id NICKNAME is totally public and shows up on the "who is logged in" list: bob42, sweetsue, studlywhiplash, etc. Obviously, anyone can log in, see the nickname and claim to be that person.

I'm pretty sure that you (a provider) can look up someone by either their NUMBER or NICKNAME.

Following voice contact, I have been asked to send an email from my DC registered email account. (I've had to update it when my gmail got clobbered.)

What I am wondering is: Can you see the actual list of references that a guy has? Do they (and you) leave just a "yes, we met" confirmation or do you leave more info? ("Nice guy. On time. Good tipper.") Can you contact any of them for more complete details?

why not somply point out the discrepancy and see how he reacts. i think that the worst case scenario is the your potential client may be lending his ID to a friend.

Don't be hard on yourself ~ better safe than sorry....and, as mentioned, it's on him for his info not being correct.

When I check ID ,  I see who they have seen before and how many.  At least 3 providers oks him.
