Am I being a prick here, or should I be getting something out of this to make up for the shit I had to deal with?

To answer your question, I would just pass on. I agree that with people-based business shit can happen and they do more often than not. I probably won't see that provider unless of course with the discount you mentioned or if she was very impressive for the time being. But hey man her son will probably remember you for the rest of his life... LOL

Sorry, but that is horrific in so many ways. Your not being a prick at all by wanting to get your session discounted, or something in return. She should have got a cheap hotel room instead. GREED is what get's us caught up in drama & ladies with kids should realize even if it is not a half day your kid could show up without your knowledge at any given moment this is a risk they choose to take. My second time around, her 8 yo hated me from the time we announced marriage plans. When we got married, she moved her bed against the common wall, announced she could hear everything said or done & stopped action until she left for college. I was not hobbying & I must have been insane to stay.
