that the porn industry can be rough. I've read stories (rec.arts.movies.erotica and elsewhere), heard a few stories (from providers who have done both) but don't know how true they all are. Unless you're a superstar, it's the director calling the shots, telling you what to do, sometimes to the point of your discomfort (physical or emotional or both).

Girl shows up to shoot previously agreed upon scenes A, B, C. Director insists she also do D (anal, dp, ...). Girl says she agreed to do A, B, C but that D was not part of the deal when she agreed to the gig. Director says, 'You'll do the anal scene or you don't get paid!' [even for the scenes you've already shot] and crap like that.

In porn, you're the actress and someone else is directing. When providing, you remain a director or co-director.

I've often wondered what draws the ladies to one branch of the "service" over another...

Clearly, on one side you have a certain amount of fame and notoriety, while on the other you have the security of relative anonymity.

But I'm wondering from the ladies, what other reasons drove you into one side or the other?  And for those who have done or are doing both, why both, and which do you like better?

Enquiring minds want to know...

Exactly...those are the ladies I'd LOVE to hear from...why both? Which do you prefer? Etc., etc., etc.

As well as for those who decided to provide only, why not do porn? I also know there are some who were providers and have decided to enter the porn arena...why?

On the other hand, for those who started as porn stars but who are now providers, what prompted them to make the switch?

All interesting questions, that I would love to get interesting answers to...

providers (who don't do porn) provide because it keeps anonymity and can lay low, easier to keep civvy life separate from work life

porn stars are basically exposed all over the place... with that much exposure, usually your real identity gets difficult to hide. some girls have been sued for choosing a celebrity's name.

Some porn stars get into escorting because there's more money to be made. sometimes pornstar-escorts charge anywhere from 400~500 to upwards of thousand+ an hour. Book a couple of guys and you make in a day or two what most people make in a month. Compare that to shooting a few films.

in both cases, money is the drawing factor lol. what else did you think it was dude?

Some young ladies only work as providers, and not as porn stars, because as Mona Divine, and Pinkyt said, Once you make porn flick, its out there forever, and you can't take it back.

Young ladies who are popular porn stars, will usually work as escorts, because they can charge more then a typical provider, because they have a fan base, and guys are willing to pay a lot of money just to have sex with a porn star they're a fan of. I did this once. If you look at my reviews, it was a porn star I was a fan of for about 4 years, when I got the chance to nail her, I had no problem dropping the cash to due so.

Because of that, there are thousands of people directing it.  Some are professional and others do as you say. We had girls begging to do more work for us because each one started with an interview of what she was comfortable doing.  There were plenty that were willing to go pretty far, so it never took threats.

I'm often disappointed at how poorly some porn is shot, especially when the subject matter is very interesting.

I really appreciate the ones that do a nice job of making sure you can see what is going on, and enjoy it to the max.

Girls that can do porn can also work as providers, but the opposite frequently isn't true.  Same for dancing.  Not everyone is able to have the whole world looking at them naked.

I had a provider friend that needed extra money (more than I was willing to help her out with after I paid too many of her bills), so she tried dancing.  She had a dancer's body and a dancer's moves, but she just didn't have a dancer's ability to get up on stage in front of a room full of men.  She tried, I even drove her to her audition, but it just wasn't natural for her.  Making a porn video is even worse.

BTW, if you ever want to have some fun, go to a topless club with a beautiful woman.  We had all the other ladies coming to our table and trying to talk her into working there.  Of course, I was invisible to them, but I still had my fun. :-)

Reminds me of alot of what we see in MMA now, an influx of people who fought alot in streetfights in Middle/HS or because they wrestled/did Karate/TKD want to jump into their first MMA fight And find out it's a different game (big fish in big pond). Hope things work out for ur friend at some point though :-|

Speaking of exhibitionists, what about performers in live sex shows?  There used to be a lot of them in Times Square before they cleaned it up and turned it into Disney World.  I recall one really hot girl was upset by some "comments" from the audience and yelled back, "Do you think this is easy?"  Just imagine fucking under a spotlight while a couple of dozen skeevy guys jerked off while you did it.  It could be very hot, though.

I know of one provider that did do porn. She said she left the porn and only provides now because the porn was too mechanical.  She likes the one on one and having fun.
