Maybe a more appropriate question is "Could you tell me how often you test?"

Let's remember that not EVERYONE that visits TER is a lifetime hobbyiest with 30,000 miles under his belt.   This hobby, like any other, depends on fresh blood from both sides of the stream and newbie people come with newbie questions.

Now on the subject of the actual question you mentioned, your answer surprises me.  I would have expected nothing less than "I bathe prior to every appointment"  and if you don't ... well ... EWWWWWWW!

I knew a provider who, when callers asked if she had AIDS or any diseases, she would say...

"Of course I do.  All hookers have AIDS!  But don't worry, we'll use condoms, and you'll be just fine."  The callers were usually speechless after that, so she'd just say, "Buh-bye."  Now, she didn't have AIDS or HIV or anything, but she didn't want to see anyone who asked such a silly question, and, at the same time, she was trying to show them how ridiculous it was to ask.

You know when you go to the airport and they ask you if you are carrying any knives, weapons or bombs in your baggage? you think the same thing-- What a stupid question! A terrorist is not just going to say, "Oh, you got me!" Believe it or not there are some people who are stupid enough to be truthful.

I can't explain why. But the point is, it doesn't hurt to at least ask. and it's comforting to get some kind of reassurance which makes the experience more pleasurable to both parties.
