I just finished watching an MSN two hour special report on Vegas pimps and prostitution.

The show followed the sting operation, the arrest and the conviction of many pimps, street and casino walkers and internet escort girls.

I say congratulations because none of US were guests on the show.

I will never understand the pimp thing. I guess that takes a particular mindset all around to be able to wrap your arms around that shit lifestyle whether male or female.

The pregnant lady that you mention that was caught was unfortunate in many ways. I was happy to see she was given a second chance with probation. It was interesting to witness a woman who did NOT take advantage of the client.

How bout the "VETO" that you mention ... "Vice Enforcements Top Offenders" with fifty arrests and still going strong got only probation as well.

I am married to a lady a that ran away from a very abusive home situation at the age of 16. She ended up in Los Vegas. She couldn't get an legal job for fear of being sent back home as the streets were better than home. She started to street walk on  the strip. A local pimp took an interest and gave her a place to stay, feed her and kept other pimps from messing with her for most of her earnings for prostituting. She drank heavily and dabbled with other harder drugs to be able to cope with her self hatred.

This continued until she was 21 when she met a lady who was where she was and got her away from her pimp and got her a job at a small strip club she owned. She provided after work. The strip club owner insisted she get her GED. She felt a sense of pride in her first real accomplishment in her life but shortly after she was busted for possession. She lost her job at the strip club and was ordered to drug rehab program. The program stuck and she moved to a different state. to start a new life.

She couldn't get a job that would pay her bills so returned to escorting and stripping as it was all she knew. But she stayed off of the drugs. She started to make real money as she was good at it. It started to make her feel powerful to see guys trow a days wage just to do her. She started to go to collage as she like how getting her GED felt. She graduated in the top 10% of her class.

She escaped the streets. She had help though. First, a kind lady got her away from her pimp. Then LE made her face her drug use. She put in lots of hard work in order to make it stick. The streets are escapable but only if someone gives them an out and they really want out. My wife still has issues from her past that haunts her and her lack of self esteem is still an issue. I am proud of her and wish she could see herself the way I see her. I love her.

I too was homeless and I to worked my way out of the streets. I was not as bad off as I was not addicted to drug nor had a pimp so it was not quite the life of the VETO you described. Walmart and McDonald's was my way out. I am now quite well off but I am lucky. I try now to be the one who helps others to beat the streets. I have had many failures but I have had couple who took the opportunity and ran with it. The streets are escapable with hard work on the part of the one on the streets.

but such a very small percentage are able to want it bad enough to achieve it. I have faith in humanity and always believe that if someone wants it there is always a way and you and your wife are a proof of it. I don't come from an easy background; I accomplished putting myself through college later on in life. With hard work and dedication everything is possible. Although nothing was ever handed to me, I can't say I completely relate because I haven't been in these extreme harsh circumstances but I sure love reading such hopeful and real success stories as yours and your wife's.

More than you would think manage to escape. Once your at the bottom of life's barrel you only have two choices: change and grow or be destroyed and end up in long term incarceration or dead. Many choose to change. Some take small steps like my wife others change greatly in short order like a guy I helped get off the street and I am about to promote to manager of one of part my business. Yes, some fall back to old habits and end back where they started from.

The best thing is that you made it and are giving back to others. Too many people that become well off after a struggle become hardasses and look down on struggling people. I was born dirt poor and remember being asked by my mother to help steal one of a neighbor's chickens so that our family could eat one day. After excelling in K12 school and getting hard earned science based degrees and years of hard work, I am what is considered by the government to be upper middle class/wealthy. My experiences as a child taught me that not all people that are down on their luck and struggling deserve to be there, very few do. I take every reasonable chance to help those less fortunate than I am. Cudos to you for using your life experiences in the right way.

MSNBC did a special on high end prostitution. The special was hosted by Melissa Gilbert. She did a good job of researching and reporting on every aspect of that end of providing.

Looks like the MSN special is more designed to feed the sterotypes of prostitution, that is a business filled with pimps and trapped providers. Too much of the business is what the show detailed, that is why it is imperative to ethical hobbyists to avoid patronizing that side of the business.
