I keep seeing these tantra ads.
The only opinion I have is that I saw one of the providers who advertises regularly in SoCal..
I was under whelmed.

It is up to the connection between the two individuals.

I have had some terrific sessions and some so so.

I saw a couple of Tantra providers in Atlanta and had good sessions with them, but could never wrap my head around the whole "Tantra spiritual" concept. They were a little more pricey than the average 'massage with happy ending' sessions.

From my exposure to it, both receiving and giving, I love it. And the ladies with whom I've done yoni massage seemed to enjoy it also, although I'm an amateur.  To each his or her own, eh?

Mostly I'm very happy with the sessions.  They are very different from standard sessions, many do not do any FS, but some do.  The emphasis is on focusing skills to improve sexuality including prolonging the experience and over all improvement of the body and mind.

I had one experience that was just so-so, the provider was very analytical and more of a drill sergeant than a lover.

I think everyone should read up on it and check it out, and if it sounds like something you would be into, take the plunge and try it at least once

Being a Tantra massage provider feels very natural to me. I think some use the word because they do believe in the practice, others implementing more then a rub & tug , and to some easy marketing.  As far as training it's really being able to listen to the body, know what it needs, wants, back off and give a little more.  This isn't something I just woke up one day and decided to do like, " hay I'm going to give Tantra massage!"  Personally my professional background is Anatomy, Kineseology, Physiology in addition to being a LMT & Yoga instructor. By no means am I an expert as it is always a learning process.
I also like that it's a clean safe practice no health risk on either side.
It's a lot of working with ones own breath and aweaness in the body. As a practitioner it's being present, palpating, patients, and attention.

Good luck, check out some providers in your area!

...it can be awesome.  At least as good as FS. Besides the great physical experience, it can really help in personal development/self awareness. It opens up your conscious mind to be able to recognize physical and emotional needs you didn't know about. If you don't believe any of that, that's fine; I honestly didn't either until it hit me like a log truck after a session. If you go to a session and "buy in" at least halfway, following the relaxation and breathing instructions, you'll at least have a great time while you're there.

It's become sort of a buzzword and I'm sure there's a lot of providers giving basic rub & tugs and putting tantra in their ads. Find a reviewed, reputable provider and give it one shot.

That's my two cents anyway, and it's probably not worth any more, but there you have it.

Because with true Tantra, there are no goals. It takes time (HOURS!) to create the connection necessary to have an enlightening experience. That's not to say that there isn't sexy time, too, with some practitioners BUT it's not like a traditional escort experience where you have a menu of acronyms, if that makes sense.

The vibe is very mellow, it's quiet, aside from breathing guidance, in my sessions anyway. It's all about the connection, especially with yourself. Most guys assume Tantra basically means just one awesome orgasm, which isn't the case at all. You may have multiple orgasms without a release. Of course, most of my guys want that, so I am happy, no pun intended, to oblige because it really *does* feel good. Personally, I prefer a light massage and then, Yoni massage over just receiving traditional oral which to me, is underwhelming. LOL Tantra also helps those with erectile dysfunction because there aren't any goals, no pressure to perform.

As far as rates are concerned, mine are higher as are my time minimums. Why? Because there is a lot of preparation involved. Depending on the length of our session, I may start to prepare energetically a day or two before, eating habits change so that energy is not effected, the actual supplies are top notch. The oil blends used are all handmade, there is the time spent for schooling (LMT), the spiritual practice of Tantra is a lifestyle, not just for our appointment. Plus, there are other esoteric or metaphysical gifts, that aren't duplicatable.

I'm curious why you were underwhelmed? How long of a session did you book
