NYC is stronger financially than L.A.? Settle this one.

A friend of some years lives now in San Francisco but is moving to L.A.  He is trying to convince me LaLaLand has a stronger economy to set-up a small business venture than NYC.
I suspect he is just in search of a buddy to get him out of the house.  But he says no.
Know NYC has had lots to deal with since 9/11 but have told him all financial things go thru NYC, and it will never be down.
He is not convinced.
I still stand on the fact that NYC is the strongest city in America, and if it goes down we all go down.
I am right?  Aren't I?

most people would select NYC.  Say what you will, but even after 9/11, New York continues to serve as the world's economic focal point.

While LA's population is certainly diverse, you may find NYC's to be more so.  New York may be a little more accepting of fringe businesses, while LA may be a little more forgiving of errors.  One thing, for sure, though:  LA has the more consistent weather -- and that may be the deciding factor.

Once LA shakes loose and falls into the Pacific, this won't be an issue anymore.  Personally, I'm buying up beachfront property in NV.  I may look dumb now, but sometime in the next 5-5000 years I'll be sittin' pretty, baby!
