Not sure about the specific numbers but I think the former would be about twice the size of the latter.

Another interesting question is how many men would hobby if they had the resources to do so.  I think that number would go way up.

No, actually, it's not a bad question.  And a recent trip to Costa Rica gives me a new perspective on it.  From having attended about a dozen M&Gs over the past few years I thought most of the guys were north of 50 and that few guys under 35 played at all.
But in Costa Rica I was surprised to see groups of guys who looked between 25 and 35.  Good looking, too, who could easily score civvies in the states but chose to come down and experience that amazing scene.
I know my opinion isn't scientific but as a result I'd say fuck the lie detector data.  I don't know what the real number is but it's much, much higher than 1 or 2 percent.  Many more guys have been to a prostitute than are willing to admit it.  And not just in Costa Rica.  Why?  Because they don't want to admit they pay for pussy, or because people they know will judge them on "moral" grounds.  So I think the small percentage in the study you cite is simply a result of many guys refusing the test because they don't want to fail it when they lie.

I do understand that putting it out there that you engage in an illegal activity is probably not the wisest thing for most people to do. In my case, I just don't give a fuck, as there is virtually nothing anyone can do to me, especially since I do so much of my mongering in countries where it is perfectly legal to do so.

And the problem is that, exactly because we have no interest in them, we are relaxed enough about not really caring that it attracts more of them.  I continually have to turn down suggestions from women about a friend of theirs I should see.

I understand it sounds silly, but if they knew that I hobby, they may lose a degree of professional respect. I in fact share very little of my personal life with co-workers. My professional life affords me the luxury of participating in the life that I enjoy the most, the hobby. But keeping the two seperate is very important. I don't mean to imply that I'm a hypocrite, and I don't really think that I am. I just avoid discussing these things with co-workers, specifically my subordonates. I'm confident that providers that have mainstream jobs and most every hobbyist shares that sentiment.
