they tell me they have a rule that I must give my real ID if I want an appointment.  I guess none of them embrace the "rebel lifestyle."  I'm smiling.

Yes, we must oppose the evil Galactic Empire , and never back down despite overwhelming odds.  

Don't  get me wrong  though.  Some rules are  needed for different reasons ,and quite rightly  so to force compliance in a world with people  of different  motives ,thinking and agenda. All I need to know is that they are made in good faith to achieve  a virtuous outcome,

Otoh, spelling and grammar rules really should be enforced.

As boobsman said, some rules are acceptable, in good faith and for virtuous reasons.
However, as Thomas Jefferson said,” I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man."  
There are some rules that, by their purpose of oppression, are not only made to be broken , but to be fought until they are totally eliminated. Jefferson again… “ the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants.”
