I am curious if the hobby was legal in your home town- would you visit it as a hobbyist or as a provider?

What some nut case could do video taping the people going in, lists of plate numbers made, married men could still be blackmailed. The risks would be too high for me. I would rather a discrete woman visits my hotel or home even.  

about it from the 70s until it was shut down in the early 90s. 10 to 20 girls worked there without any real problems. It was a large establishment with showers, steam rooms, hot tubs, etc.  It served a purpose to the community in that it kept the ladies off the streets. They were shut down when they began bringing in under age girls which pissed off the other ladies. Pimps would bring them in from out of State.  However, the bust had teeth because of the IRS.

Maybe, but I doubt that brothels will ever be legal in other states besides Nevada.  I got my start in the hobby years ago when I started visiting some of the legal brothels in NV, but demographics makes seeing indies more practical

OK, I've been with a couple gals who used to work at the Bunny Ranch, but it's not where we met.
OTOH, I have no problem visiting the adult toy store in broad daylight. It's just the sleazy dude behind the counter doing battery tests that make me want to shower with lye soap when I get home.

I recall news articles in the past where do gooders would take pictures of gents going into legal establishment porn shops in order to publish the pics and embarrass the clients. This was an effort to shut down the legal businesses.    

That's like walking into the massage parlor nearby. That's why I always hobby out of town.

Back when there still were such things, I visited the local adult book store to get porn.

Not a huge difference in the threats from the out of hobby world.

I avoid AMPs and agencies like the plague.  They're not all bad, but I'd rather have my fun with Independents who are having fun, too.  A brothel would be too much like an agency for me.

I have no need or desire to hide what I do from anybody. They would be sorely disappointed in any attempt to "shame" me for seeing hookers.

As for me, I walk in and out of AMPs and have walked in and out of brothels in many countries where they are legal with my head held high.  

You could walk into a brothel (or an AMP) and not find what you are looking for.

I meant it in terms of an AMP doesn't always offer sexual services, whereas a brothel offers mainly sexual services. I wasn't   referring to what type of services might be offered at either.

I really don't see anything wrong with a brothel.  I am just not interested enough in the experience to pony up to be a customer

Worked as a bouncer in a legal brothel, a long time ago.  And also visited as a customer.  But, I was in my twenties. Back then, the ladies would go straight home or to their other jobs. Sometimes I would drive some of them home, if they were concerned about certain clients.  
Now, in my 50's,  when I visit Australia, I see independents because the service is better.  But, I still would not have a problem walking into a brothel there. The brothels have some pretty anonymous entrances for the employees, so you'd have to be a client to realize who is leaving.
