Guys and gals, how many of you would date your ATFs on Valentine's day or would

you rather date a Civie? And would you rather eat in and have a nice and quiet romantic dinner or eat out and be with the crowd?

For the ladies, would you rather get paid to be with someone whom you know to be a so-so date or a Civie whom you romantize about, when you're getting invitations from both to spend an evening together on Valentine's day? Who would you pick? One is a paid date, the other isn't. Put it another way, would you rather take a day off or work on Valentine's day?

40 some days after the spending orgy that is Christmas the greeting card/candy/florist/teddy-bear industries are into our pockets forcing an obligatory observance of romance under duress.

If I could be with my ATF Valentines day I would be; but not for obligatory reasons. I don't need a day set aside to remind me to remember her. She won't be upset at my absence. She'll be too busy being graciously remembered by those who needed the reminder.

I wouldn't choose a paid appointment over a hot date with somebody I really fancied on any day of the year!  A person would have to be extremely money-driven to do that.

I've no particular preference over seeing a client on Valentine's Day or not.  The day is special if you're doing something special with somebody you love, otherwise it's just another day.

And I'd always prefer a quiet, romantic dinner out with client or lover to being out with a crowd :)

I guess that all depends on the guy, my mood and how well we clicked.

To me it isn't so much about how much is spent on Valentines day as much as the company, conversation and the enjoyment the two of us would get out of it.

Some ladies are very materialist, some guys are very romantic, and some of us can take it anyway and enjoy Valentines day without all the fluff!

I have in the past spent time with my special friends and they have all been great experiences! GRIN

Cynicalman you crack me up!  Well said though... LOL
Yea I look at is as commercial holidays now, because  so many of us have lost the meaning and point of the holiday all together!

My preference would be to take my SO AND my ATF out to a nice dinner and then back home for some Valentines Day fun.  Unfortunately, that would probably make February seem like the longest month of my life.  Oh well, a guy can dream.

Valentines day was meant for romance, so I would rather spend the date working.  Unfortunately the younger civies tend to forget the small touches and not make the day as romantic.

I go out for dinner dates with many of my ATF's. No charge, always casual & fun. Dessert at my place, well now... for a no carb, no fat or calorie dessert, refer to the menu for price.(smile)

I'd love to date my ATF on Valentine's Day, but my S.O. won't let me play that day!

....since I am single, and I am not currently being heavily pursued by anyone in particular, I would work. No reason to take a day off if I am not going to be with anyone special. I mean, surely if someone I knew and was interested in offered, I might go out for and evening with them, but otherwise-- I see no reason not to work. Though, I certainly wouldn't charge more (I know a few ladies that do), because to me that is unnecessary, you have the choice to work or not-- there should be no special "holiday pay" for your trouble.... I would simply take it as another day, as I m sure many others do...

I am not phased much by commercial holidays anyhow, I see them as another reason to milk the general public out of hard earned money by getting them to shell out bug bucks on diamonds, pearls, roses and candle lit dinners and to get men in trouble if they forget to fork it over... I think if you love someone, there ought'nt be a certain day in which to celebrate your love-- you should show it any and everyday... have surprise evenings out, or unexpected travel, or just bring home flowers just because... you dont need a reason or a designated holiday....

thats just what I think...

Dani

to prove it. I think we should do away with Valentine's day.

Now I'd love to meet you someday any time of the year.
