Along with my Winchester 1300 Defender 12ga (simply point and shoot...like a camera), this is part of my arsenal.  
The bamboo baton is heat treated and hardened (made it myself) and will easily break your forearm,  
The big-ass dagger thing will come out the other side of you,  
And, the axe-looking thing is actually a piece of motorcycle sprocket, welded to a claw hammer head. I'd hate to even try to defend against it. That sprocket would easily tear some flesh, no matte where I strike.
   
Believe me...you don't want me pulling any of these out.

In spite of what some of our "wanna be badasses" like JLS who honestly believes she can physically take on a man who outweighs her by a hundred pounds, have to say, Most self defense classes for women mainly consist of making enough ruckus to attract help, distracting an assailant long enough to get away, or making oneself a "more difficult" victim in the hopes he will move onto easier prey, none of which will do you a damn bit of good if you are locked in hotel room with your attacker.

 
There are two things that you have to take into consideration though if you are going to arm yourself with a lethal weapon. One is that you need to be proficient with your weapon or you are likely to have it taken away from you and possibly used against you. This is not that hard to accomplish, there are many training classes available to get you familiar enough with firearms to be able to use them if the need were to arise. The second thing is not so easy and requires that you be VERY honest with yourself, and that is to be sure in your own mind that you are also "willing" to take a mans life to save your own and not freeze when it's time to pull the trigger. Not every person is capable of taking a life, and just like not knowing "how" to use a gun, if you are the type of person who is going to hesitate if and when the time comes, you could just as easily find your own weapon being used against you.  

 
When  a firearm is added to the mix, it can most definitely raise the stakes, and a rape or a beating can turn into a murder instead. It's not something to take lightly, but personally I have been carrying a weapon for almost my entire adult life and so has my 80 year old mother.
