No one should EVER have to pay for sex.  The government should provide it as benefit to Obama Care.  Now THAT's change I can agree with.

Please, Robbin, I know you are asking this to get us to vent. Wd have all enjoyed your incisive posts so your answer is obvious.  So is mine: Anything that two consenting adults do with their bodies unless there is demonstrable harm to others is none of the government's business unless one believes that everything is their business. (LET'S ban thumb sucking in people over age 13).  
An alcoholic can, by drinking, ruin his/her families life.  An addicted gambler the same.  Certainly a hobbyist or a philanderer may threaten his/her family dynamics, but If these ARE the business of police, the state, or anyone outside the immediate circle; then so is hand washing after using your home toilet..  
All of us have dated women, bought them dinner taken them to shows or trips and had sex.  Should his be illegal? Ridiculous.  
My only concern is the decriminalizing of sex for money might tempt some bureaucratic moron to start making rules.  "No tying up, no dressing up like little girls, no riming". ("Vote Jim Smith for Congress, he will stop ass licking in America.")
There are a few problems: police often fund themselves by catching speeders (doing 70 on a six lane highway with no one else on the road) or hobbyists and providers and fining them.  And of course the difficulty of running for state senator on the platform of legalization of sex for money, though marijuana for pleasure has done well and there is finally marriage equality,  so many be there is hope that people will learn to leave their neighbors alone to live their lives as they wish and to the fullest.

What I hear is:

The demand for really young vagina has ballooned in the Netherlands.
The younger and fresher the meat the more sexual desirability and the more marketable.
It's kind of like when you order a steak , one wants a  nice fresh piece of meat for a tastier eating experience.
That is Not going to change.  
Bitching about it will not produce the change women want.

The thing that Must Change, and ladies have some control over,
is the EDUCATION process.
It needs to start YOUNG. I mean “can the girl talk” YOUNG.  
Anyone with a Clitoris needs to know that it is powerful.

Gentoris had 3 children by the age of 17 that forced her into prostitution for money.

Sex is a bodily function.
We need to Quit attaching fairytales to Sex.
Society will change its views on Sex and EVOLVE into a solution, to "save" the girls from having Sex that do not want to have Sex.

It's going to take New Higher thinking, truthful, honest, full of love and minus the fear,

to teach the young ones

We ARE talking about sex for money between two free fully cognizant adults and freely consenting adults. No kids, no captives, no force, no drugs, no drunk or heavily stoned ladies or gentlemen.

Considering the myriad of health benefits that sexual activity offers, the adoption of free sex paid for by a health plan could reduce overall healthcare expenditures.  

Then there is the savings in wasted law enforcement costs.  

I say it's worth a try.

My opinion, and it's only opinion because politicians don't know what they're talking about, is that prostitution is outlawed because it's perceived as a threat to marriages. Governments try to promote marriage because stable couples produce children, which keeps the numbers in the labor force intact or growing (and also provides people for the military), and stable couples tend to earn more money (taxes).

The panel of people, on the show, kept stating prostitution is legal in Nevada?! Obviously, they didn't do their homework, since prostitution is only legal at a handful of brothels in very few Nevada counties. This fact, made me wonder how correct their other comments were as well.

Anyone have a "real talk" with older war vets?? What do you think "pleasure nurses" did?  Most were Asian girls in World War II but our US government would bring them in to improve morale and help the wounded. Lifts up spirits, makes everyone feel good. They dressed just like regular nurses only they were solely for pleasure. That was pretty open-minded in the 40s.  Why do we need to get to that place that was already there seventy years ago?  Sex is good. 😊

2.Lack of resources or alternatives to making a living: Providing for children, food, clothing, shelter etc. (One ethnic group is more affected by this lack of opportunity than another ethnic group.)

3.Alternative to low paying jobs: The lure of making good money is very enticing, but it’s the customer’s fault for paying for this type of work because it promotes number 1.

For:

1.Women’s freedom of choice to do what they want with their bodies.  

2.Exclusivity: What goes on between the payer and payee is consensual and should not be considered a crime just because money was exchanged for it. Moreover, no one is getting hurt over it.

What was not brought up:

That the payer wants sex because it fills a need. (And, that need is natural and innate and won’t go away, so in essence it’s a safety valve towards satisfying it.

There is no enjoyment or emotion of this type of work from the sex worker towards her patron or visa-versa (as one of the interviewee’s stated that sex is like a commodity, void of love).

My own thoughts:

Since most people have emotions, there will always be some that will have difficulty separating feelings from a provider, or maybe visa-versa and do form bonds and want to see each other again. Some form relationships or marry.  However, on a more mature level for those that respect the profession, there will also be some who are fond of providers and not only perfectly fine with the arrangement, but prefer it. The same goes for providers who may have high regards towards their customers, but will not go further than the arrangement.  

To sum up, the human element of the joy of sex, or at least the fantasy that it is special was not in that conversation. (Nothing wrong with feeling good about oneself after seeing a provider, even if that provider doesn’t feel the same. But I do think any well-adjusted sex worker will share in another’s joy, knowing that she did her job well to make him happy—and I say this in earnest as I hope that pleasure feeds off pleasure; a positive vibe.)

So, what’s the crime? The crime is not the sex work, but the abuser(s) who either forces someone to do something against her/his will, exploits the other, steals from the other, or causes bodily harm. The continuing problem is that society has difficulty separating the paying for sex from the abuse because of the negative statistics; hence, paying for sex remains a crime. There are, of course, numerous details to be worked out, but the most efficacious means of matching sexual partners would seem to be to allow each patient to select the sex therapist of their choice.

That's a good thing as it avoids a lot of messy pitfalls like jealousy and people doing rash things like divorcing and the like.  

That said, I have very loving relationships with most of my regulars, but we are mature enough to keep them under control and not have unrealistic expectations, at least for the most part.

The challenge is,
they're saying that 75% of the participants of sex work are between the ages of 13 and 25.
This makes it "exploitive".
This age group is not emotionally mature.

Prostitution increased tremendously during the US Civil War, often near the troops (Union and Confederate). It was allowed and, perhaps, even encouraged but was it ever OFFICIALLY operated or sanctioned?  

After the Civil War, as the US expanded westward, enterprising madams and prostitutes moved west along with the troops (and the gold rushers) ... but they were independent contractors, not Army employees.

What you describe as WWII "pleasure nurses" sound like Candy Stripers. What makes you think there were "official" sex services? There was a real nursing corp in most branches and I can't picture professional army nurses easily accommodating sexual use of the locals in their hospitals for therapeutic purposes. If there was consensual sex (for $) during off hours, that I can see.  

During Viet Nam, Bangkok was a popular destination for R&R during leave and there was a sex trade there. There was also sex trade in VN itself. Officers and others may have done nothing to stop it but that doesn't make it official or officially sanctioned. Some rogue mid-level officer paying for a weekend sex party is not "officially sanctioned."  

After WWII, there was a major US presence in Okinawa and the sex trade flourished outside the bases on Okinawa.  

I can't remember reading about any high level OFFICIAL provision or even sanctioning of P4P for the US troops from 1776 to 2016
