she can Not get it through her thick skull that woman here in this business at this day and age are for the most part Not Victims.
We for the most part, choose this.
The strained looks on her face, the frowns, all the disapproval and the stupid questions.
She only wanted to hear how aweful this is for her or anyone else. She worded her questions to try and reflect a victim only.
Its all BS. I was very disappointed in this interview. It's so much Bullshit.
Not only does she clearly Not "get it" but she in no way wants to either. Some people never do though. curious how badly nightline will distort the business next.

I agree That Diane Sawyer was condescending and judgmental.  Ashley Dupre DID say, however, that it was her choice - at that time - if I recollect her statements accurately.  Serious question - what did you think of Ashley's responses? Her "reasons" for becoming an escort?

She's a dowdy prude of mainstream media.  She has a narrative and she picks her questions and runs her attitude to fit the narrative.

The only thing in doubt is whether Ashley would have fought the narrative.  Maybe she did and those parts didn't make the final cut.

agree...
I also think miss Ashley chose to allow them to portray her as a victim to some degree. She didnot want (guessing here) to add more injury to her family by stating, "it was pretty easy, money was great and I loved my job as well as the lifestyle it allowed me to have."
So we all know the scoop and the media aside from  "dirty money" which was pretty good and portrayed well, will not allow society to be OK with it all. Didn't really expect any thing different though.

Nightline did not do too bad of a job though. No disrespect or disapproval additude of the Ladies or the profession. I wonder if some of this has to do with the fact that the story was reported by a man. Then again Dirty Money  was reported by a woman. So the problem IS Diane Sawyer and her personal bias, what kind of reporting is that? No middle of the road...she reflected what she wanted to, not reality, just the reality of her own opinion on the business.

The old bag gives her the condescending "You know there's no difference between an escort and a prostitute" bit, and weepy, intimidated Ashley can't come up with any response at all.

I was disappointed that when AD wanted to argue about terminology, she didn't have something at the ready to make a better point.

The snippet they put in midway from Diane Sawyer's other piece on prostitution that she did just  infuriates me also...the one that talks about how girls have to use drugs to get through appointments, one girl saying "I just count", and saying how we have to emotionally detact.  Sure there are some with that experience, but there are others that have OTHER experiences also that they conveniently ignore.

Or maybe she is very smart...and is letter her bread be buttered by whoever is willing to do it, now that she is "changing careers".

Who said she was an advocate for AE rights more than just a girl in a situation that is way bigger than her and trying to cash in while she can?

I honestly think she's somewhere in between...  Certainly she's smart about *some* things (like playing up her sweeter, more fragile side now to make herself more sympathetic).  I'm certainly glad she didn't let the "how do you feel about taking down a governor down?" comment slide as somehow being her responsibility, and I thought it showed class to try and apologize to the wife.

I'm not sure what you mean by "AE" rights, I'm assuming you mean sexworker rights of some sort, but don't want to assume too much.  My point about her not having a distinction on the ready for her preference for "escort" verses "prostitute" was that she obviously thought about it enough to have there be a difference ~for her~, and I was surprised she didn't defend it better.  I don't see that as being about advocating sexworker rights, but more about self perception.  And maybe that self perception was such a thin veil of her true feelings that Diane was able to tear it down so easily... :-/

The conversation about what prostitution IS and ISN'T could have been an interesting debate, but obviously AD isn't the girl to do it.

I missed the beginning of the interview....What was Ashley's drug involvement?

I think this was a PR piece by Ashley the victim to play into the steriotypes...

I wanted to yell at the screen...  "BS, NOT SO!" but that would have aroused suspicion of my S.O.

This is the woman who followed Nixon into exile to help him with his self justifying writings.  She is also the woman who --when her program was bribed by the company-- did a fairly long and overly delighted interview with the sock puppet that was used to advertise an on line pet food company about to go broke. She's obviously perfect for the kind of BS she did with this interview.

If they found out your secret..

Sorry, the media has this subject very one sided and I doubt it will change..

But neither will public opinion...Which I hear from my girlfriends all the time

Ashley sold a bill of goods to get ahead..She used her womanly wiles to make you feel sorry for her, to present her as the victim and to use her experience as a stepping stone to bigger and better things.

It totally was a bad interview . She didn't give any good answers , and I thought it was messed up how she kept saying she had nothing 2 say to Spitzer  like he did her wrong or something .The just so sorry 4 his wife is sch BS . C'mon already. She just wants people to think she is the "drug addicted victim" ,and not that she liked being a escort for the life it gave her and is just sorry she got caught !
