for the same reasons why you choose T-Mobile. - can use cash both to purchase and refill - no questions asked - no need to supply any real information and can do it all easily on-line - no snail mail bills to worry about - have had no problems with service
I like to change my hobby phone every year or so, to further keep any kind of electronic trail of my activities limited.
The most recent switch came a couple of weeks ago. I decided to go with T-Mobile this time (pre-paid, with cash, naturally), instead of the GoPhone (AT&T) I had last time.
The issue I had with GoPhone was, when I signed up, they wanted a name and address. I had to make one up on the spot, and hope it got validated in whatever way AT&T might try to do so.
When I activated my T-Mobile phone, no such questions were asked.
Just a note for those of you who might be in the market.
