both a cricket and trac phone pay as you go. works fine for me

As my previous hobby phone gave up the ghost this past weekend, and it has been a little while....

What are recommendations regarding a burner phone - Particularly, carriers that don't require registering the phone - Would kinda defeat the purpose.

Non-GPS would be preferred, though is that necessarily a requirement? Don't have a SO or the like, just curious with that point.

Thanks

Trac Phone is great! I've used them for over 10 years without incident. All the new burner phones have GPS unfortunately. You can still find older non-GPS models on Ebay but they will be fairly expensive and then you will be creating a paper trail! (Credit card, Paypal, Ebay account etc) Personally I wouldn't risk it!

When purchasing a new burner phone be sure to purchase from somewhere on the other side of town, pay with cash, and register it using a fake name & address, burner email & public computer. (Internet cafe, unlocked/non-keycard hotel business center, library, etc!) The burner email used to register should be separate from your usual hobby email and not used for anything else. Use the same public computer to register that email as well.

I have been using a stupid little Tracfone for 10 years.  Cost about $40 to purchase at walmart (cash) then added minutes/texts with refill cards at $20 every couple of months.  Since 95% of my communications are through text, I ended up finding out about Tracfone text-only refill cards from walmart for only $5 (cash) per 1,000 texts!!  That was a game changer!

This is the best way to go, in my own experience.

I seen this posted in one of the forums....

"I use my regular phone with an app called Cover Me. It requires you to set up a pin to access, uses a burner number, is encrypted for both texts and calls, texts can be set to s self destruct, like in Mission Impossible, and is $29.99 every 6 months. Very safe and secure"

I'm just passing the info along....

It was pointed out to me recently that I confused a provider's handle as being a monger.  You are "seeking P", so does "P" stand for pussy or penis?  Wait, . . . .  that won't necessary tell me if you are a woman or a man.  Forget that.  Are you a monger or a provider?

You'll get the option of sending mail (PM), seeing their board posts, or seeing there reviews. If reviews is an option then the poster is a provider. It's not fool proof though because the poster may just not be reviewed or may not have connected their handle to their reviews. Then you can click on see the board posts. If there are ads then poster is a provider.

OK, somebody tell me what I've left out.

You covered it all babe. Thank you. The onus was on coeur-de-lion but instead they chose to be lazy.....and besides the thread is about burner phones and not about interesting handles.
Please keep up cdl.

Since I just got here last week this is valuable info.  When replying to people for the first time, I never know in advance whether they will understand my brand of obtuse humor. Some get it, others are slow-witted. Maybe Ms. Seeking-penis should be the one to keep up.

I created a 2nd gmail account, NO one will ever get the password. I keep my phone on my normal account and switch when needed. After a date I wipe all conversations and info.
Providers numbers are listed just like my business contacts, Example, In my phone is Brad@sysco  or maybe steve@comcast SO my regular providers are listed as reps. Mia@sysco.. etc. The funny thing is I only use companies that I DONT do business with,
As far as GPS, turn it off.
Always switch back to your regular g account when done with date.

Sometimes the simplest solution is right in front of you with no added expense.

You’re talking about gmail accounts when this thread is about phones. What do gmail accounts have to do with phones. Maybe you need to explain better.

The phone itself is nothing but a pc of hardware, the Google account is the brains, it tracks and remembers everything.
I use one for private and one for personal. I can switch over to private and when I choose I can delete everything and empty trash. and go back to my personal account.

Is the one you already own, or one of the many just collecting dust in your desk drawer. Go to Best Buy and using cash, get one of those TracFone BYOP SIM card kits. You can choose any area code you want and whatever a la carte service you prefer. Just pop your SIM card in once activated and good to go.
