I understand the need

Screening was discussed last week in detail in regards to those who screen versus those who do not, especially with the recent Chicago activity.

I know that of those who DO screen, each person has their own requirements.  What are yours?

- one or two referrals?
- membership with Date-Check, p411 or the boards?
- employment info and contacts?
- real name and ID?

What are you used to asking for/providing?

Just curious what the range is...
Thanks :)

Hi Lady,

I first ask a potential client if he belongs to a verification site. If he doesn't then I ask if he has a couple of provider references. If he doesn't have that, then I ask for his work verification. I try my best to assure him that his information is secure and for my safety only. If they cannot produce that, then I have no other options for them.

For the gentlemen who own their own business then I conduct a DBA (doing business as) look up. Business owners have to register their business with their state. But I've only had to do that once. One guy is a mental health professional and allowed me to look up his medical liscence because he didn't have any of the verification options. There are many ways. And I'm sure there are more that I've missed that other ladies employ.
I'm sure you'll get many more great ideas from the other ladies on this site as well.

Good luck!

All those you mentioned are great, but don't forget some of the most important ways to screen.

1. Your gut - if you have any doubt, then don't. If a guy gives you a creepy feeling over the phone, asks too many strange questions, keeps asking if you are a cop (Cops can lie so this question is pointless gentleman), or vulgar - ignore him. I bet you another guy will come along in a few minutes and not be creepy.

2. Make 'em wait. Only for regulars am I available the same day. New guys have to call back again another day. Most cops are looking for the bust NOW. Most deviants will choose the lady available NOW. I know you might feel you are missing out on money, but then again if something bad happens, no amount of money is worth that.

3. Common sense - I always as a guy his first name when he first calls and asks him to try me another day. I save the name, if he sounds black. latin, foreign or white and the date he called. When he calls back if he tells me another name - no go. If a once black man now sounds white - probably cops using the same cell phone.

There are a ton other methods I use, but each is unique. So far I have never had any trouble with anyone, and I am famous for picking up clients in hotel bars. They notice my thigh highs or lacy bra and they are weak. LOL In this case, I ask for a business card, as his room number. If he is too shy, then he can't see me.

Be creative, be smart, be safe.

who objects to your screen requirements should not be seen.  Too many lunny tunes out there.  If you don't believe, see the post a few up on this board about fingerprints.

There are things about you and what you do, no one should know. Many things come back and haunt you when put information on the Internet without thinking. Most people in their excitement don't think what type of information they are putting out there.

Pictures and other stuff put  on Face Book and such  is going to stay there forever and ever. Everything can be tracked including your alias, some easy, some difficult.

to protect yourselves, but I have found that most providers will --after talking with me on the phone-- see me with proper ID and my cell phone number.  Perhaps it is the fact that I have been reviewing for ever (LE would never have done this for years just to catch someone), I have been posting a lot.  I have joined date-check to help and am ready to give references, but I have been away from the hobby for a year or so so references are not so easy.  I do understand if that is not enough, but what can I do.  I also am not the sort of person to make plans in advance, so I am at a greater disadvantage.  One lady who saw me after just a phone call said she can tell about a potential client after a telephone conversation.  I am no sure how, but that is what she said. (We had a wonderful time, or at least I did and hope she did too.)

Most commonly I provide name, phone number and provider references. Some want my TER handle instead of references.  Some want employment info instead, although that is much less common than a few years ago.
