This thing of ours became legal?  We all keep wishing it was but what if really did become legal? I know .. it's been few thousands of years of wishful thinking but what if?


Would the sites like TER become less important in our lives because we no longer will have to hide our activities from friends and coworkers?

Would some people stop hobbying because there will no longer be a thrill of risk?

Would prices go up to reflect taxation?  Would they drop down because more providers will enter the biz?

Would a black market of escorting develop on the tax evasion "cash only" basis to elude the higher rates and tax consequences?

Some food for thought, I look forward to both provider and hobbiyst response.

there are plenty of examples of countries where this is legal.

review sites might then be purely performance and marketing sites, not LE related. sort of like Consumer Reports.

Regardless if they make it legal or not there will be providers who would go underground to avoid taxes. I am sure they would have cash discounts like the rest of our underground economy, just ask the folks in West Virginia.

In terms of pricing it would be determined on supply/demand. Personally I don't think demand would go up that much. I also don't think the supply of providers would go up that much. These two would keep the supply/demand curve in balance meaning prices would be the same.

Even though it is illegal now there are providers who do pay their taxes. These providers would continue to pay taxes in the new system.

If decriminalized we could go about our biz without worrying about LE obviously. And not have issues with hotel policies and security measures perhaps.

I'm sure that the sport would become regulated under some govt agency pretty quickly. This would probably as it does with most things government regulates, impinge on the way the sport is "done" at many levels, espcially adding to the complexities and costs of doing business for the ladies.

Many many more ladies would come into the game creating oversupply vs even increasing demand and causing rates to lower dramatically, and probably reducing the overall quality of service. A small percentage of truly exceptional providers would survive this and stay in demand at high rates providing quality service but it would be bad for many if not the majority of existing providers

The only "upside" I see would be regulation *requiring* testing and Hep immunization for providers and hobbyists alike....

Actually, I think that industry will self regulate like the porn industry...like the AIM testing and they shut down set when a positive occurs.  But I am with you,  strippers would upgrade to providing and it will be an endless debate as people will come out of the shadows and the moral outrage will force people to stay in the shadows, which will cause prices to go up because some providers may "out" more prominent customers because they will have no fear of legal reprucussions.

Although many providers seem to want legalization, I don't think they've thought it through. If it became legal prices will fall, in the UK and Australia girls don't generally get the same rate they can here, as there is no legal risk involved.

If there is decriminalization without too much interference, that would be fine; if there was tight regulation (no bbj, no fantasies with religious these, whatever)that would be very bad.

The ladies would have additional costs of doing business. Fees, certs, testing, licenses, etc.

Plus they might have to do more marketing, they would have to think about things like insurance, benefits, liability, the list goes on and on.

Don't get me wrong, I think it would be better all around if it was legal. Better, but not less expensive.

This is actually a project my sister has been working on with the adult entertainment industry for the past three years.  She has been researching the industry for 12 years across the entire globe.

For all intense purposes the majority of activity is already overlooked with few exceptions in election years.  Internet escort malls like CityVibe, Backpages, Craig's List brought many street walkers, drug addicts, scam artists, criminals, pimps and human trafficking into an otherwise upscale escorting community.

Our industry has already hit the very bottom of the barrel!!!  Decriminalization will make an already decomposing situation catastrophic.  The crime associated with the situation will run unbridled with STD's amuck.  Not to mention what will happen to our streets.

We don't let everyone be Doctors, Attorneys, CPA's, along with many other industries requiring certification and licensing.  This industry isn't any different.  There are many people currently working in this profession that don't belong.

The proof is on the boards, in the treads and spelled out in the reviews.  Our quality of life has been greatly compromised.

Owning your own business means being able to hide some of your cash income, if you choose.  However, nobody should be hiding all of their income.  We all need to contribute to our communities regardless of our professions.  Yes, many ladies do pay taxes and will continue to pay taxes.  The one's that don't need to buck-up and give back to your communities.

The true allure of desire, seduction and unfettered sexual interludes are more difficult to find because for many... This is not a profession.  Not viewed as a service where you need to fine tune your customer satisfaction skills.  It's about money.  That's the truth!

Legalization would eliminate much of the crime associated with the industry i.e. human trafficking, abusive pimps, drug addiction, con artists and B&S operations.

1.  Woman would be required to take a certification course to practice in the industry.

2.  They would have to pass psych testing to see if they are emotionally capable of handling the job without turning to a vice such as drugs or alcohol.

3.  They would be required to pass a bar for licensing which would include skill, knowledge, moral, ethical, code of conduct, health risks and client Confidentiality.  If any of these were broken their license would be taken away.

4.  They would be required to get testing every 30 days.  This information should not be made public.  If a test comes back positive the lady would simply be shown as unavailable until the situation was cleared.  If a lady tested HIV positive or Hep, her license would be indefinitely suspended.

5. Ladies would be required to report at least some income helping our current economic situation.

6.  Unsuitable providers would be eliminated ensuring a higher satisfaction rate for the hobbyist.

The industry is as dirty as it is going to get.  With the economy, it is only getting worse...
