TER General Board

I second "No" to the pillow top.

It doesn't make for better sex and yet makes finding sheets that fit more difficult. Also, ideally,  mattresses should be rotated and flipped occasionally, which doesn't work well with the pillow top.

I am contemplating getting rid of my 1960s era waterbed and finally joining the rest of the world when it comes to sleep surfaces.

Gals:  (Sorry guys, but I don't sleep with you.)  What is your preference:

1.  Stay with the water bed, hippies are coming back soon?

2.  Regular mattress (specify firmness)

3.  Posturepedic

4.  Futon

5.  Bare floor

6.  Other

I heard you can't fuck on those ... Maybe it's the memories.

DONT, they are the WORST to have sex on......just ask my wife, she complains daily that she sinks too much and cant get any "traction" as she calls it!!!   LOL

Can't say enough good things. The firmness is adjustable on each side, which eliminated one of the longer running issues with my wife.  I like it hard, she likes it soft.

Basically a very heavy duty pair of air mattress with a pillow top cover on it, can't tell its not a regular mattress. New models even tilt the back up, and it does stop snoring!

Bonus, they are light and small (deflated) when it comes time to move.

We actually went through 3 mattresses (all with return guarantees) before we stumbled upon Sleep Number in a mall, where we never go.  Found out after the fact that we were not very "green" when mattress testing.  Found out that the stores can't use the returns, so they throw them away!  the last mattress we tried, a dual density all natural latex, arrived from Vermont in a smallish roll via UPS.  Do not open until you have it in the bedroom!  That mattress was too hot, and the company allowed us to donate to a bona fide charity and get a refund.

I don't think I would invest in regular mattress pads for sleeping again.  When I'm single, I'm a middle of the bed sleeper and like if firm. This mattress works well for me.  The foam rib down the middle would be uncomfortable for soft sleepers.  I am always worried a little too much fun on the mattress will pop it someday.

in my experience , the firm mattresses are better for the hobby and solid frame, it also keeps noise to the minimum

Re: the firmer the better...
You girls ALL say that

I like a firm mattress. A pillow top is too soft for me.  If you get a memory foam and live in a warm climate, consider getting a cooling gel top mattress cover.

Have actual experience with this bed? If so, which model

Casper without a hesitation is what I recommend. Great price, great warranty and incredibly comfortable. I have had now for 8 months and it is better than anything I have ever had and I slept in a waterbed from 1983 - 1998, I held on as long as I could and never found a better nights sleep until Casper.

Did TER move this from the 60 and Over board or are they about to?

Just got a new memory foam for my new apartment. It is excellent. My ATF did comment that it is very comfy a few days ago...

expensive and ridiculously difficult to move around. But forms to your body without pressure points, and flexes immediately when you move;  unlike memory foam, which makes me feel like I've been encased in a mold after I sink into it.

latex rubber is a hostile environment to dust mites and other little beasties that like to take up residence in mattresses. Doesn't compress, or sag....

never squeaks?....lol...

Like sleeping on a giant dildo

Bought it about 18 months ago. It goes on sale at Costco for $100 off every so often.

It is apparently highly rated. I've heard great things about it too from friends who have enjoyed it. I am actually looking for one for myself now.

I've had mine for 10 years and it is, and probably was one of my best investments.

It is the Rolls Royce of beds. Completely handmade of cashmere, silk and down. Hand tufted. Because of my tiny size I got the softest one they had and it's like being enveloped by a cloud. They are harder to come by in the USA, ( Made in England) but can be found at specialty stores in better areas or shipped.

The price tag seems rather much but you'll never have a better sleep or need to purchase another mattress.

I slept on a waterbed for years and loved it! Got talked into a regular  bed and
have been frustrated ever since, until I got a sleep number bed. Recommended to me by a family member, and I love it. Sex is not an issue on it, most important!

Also, invest in a My Pillow too.

3.  Posturepedic

I was going to suggest a Bob-o-pedic, just because I like their ads.

How about one of these
