Do you all budget for the hobby on a monthly basis or do you splurge spare of the moment for fun ?

How many times have you dipped funds set aside for something else to hobby ?

If you want to have regular relation with a provider do you cut back on your 401K contributions ?

What type of things do you cut back on so you can hobby (I.E bag lunch to work, instead of eating out). ?

Yes, all of that.  I do have to decide on "How often" & stick to it as this can be addictive.  I have splurged but it can not be routine.  

I have "rounded up" my pocket money needs which I set aside from my check.  I have a couple of checkbook covers in my dresser... (They're not hidden).  One I accumulate surplus in until needed for a session (large paper clip on it).  The other is current spending money excess which I choose not to carry daily, refilling the wallet as needed.  Besides what I set asside when I get the check, when the new check arrives, I move any left over to the hobby side.  
I have had to go into the hobby stash for unexpected expenses.  I hurts momentarily but it's the right thing to do.

My normal routine to put aside $20. a week plus any unexpected cash windfalls.  If I loan someone a few bucks for lunch and they pay me back it goes to the fund.  If I win a bet it goes to the fund.  If I pay a credit card when I go out for a few beers with a friend and he pays me in cash, it goes to the fund.

I also do splurge on occasion when I get horny.

I was freshly divorced - legal and other bills needed my attention and I hobbied based upon coins that I saved every day - when I reached a proscribed $ I would supplement and make an appointment - easy- and found that once a month I could afford - easily.

then with more funds, I found that the rate limiter was time... still is that way, and now, it really is time... when... and having to catch as catch can...

DO I sacrifice anything else?  not really....

that I set aside specifically for the ladies. I've never had to go without anything else just to see a lady, but I've never used funds that I hadn't saved either. I'm not a once a week kind of guy, so saving a little at a time has worked very well for me.

I have a monthly hobby budget and I stick to it fanatically. It's based on a percentage of my monthly income.

..on a regular basis.  I put aside some cash each payday and can hobby about twice every three months.

I don't take away from anything else, but I can work some overtime and use that money for an extra session.
