Providers and No Text Messaging

Just curious as to why providers always wont read or respond or allow text messaging? I know that allows for a more concrete record just in case it's LE looking for entrapment, but just like having a conversation, you still can be "tactful" in your communications about what you are looking for....

Just curious on this as a search did not turn anything up....

Hearing someone's voice and tone over the phone says a lot...A lady can more or less, get a feel for your personality, intelligence and "weirdo factor"...And the other way around...I would never want to communicate via text messaging, unless we have already spoke on the phone...It's for the better, trust me...

There are MANY times I am in a position that I can not talk on the phone, or have any privacy... In those circumstances, I prefer text messages.

I will not book an appt solely thru a text message with a client I have never seen before, I do ask that they at least call me so we can speak and get a feel for each other. But I will sometimes text up to that point..

I definitely encourage repeat or previously seen clients to text me, as not only is it a faster way for me to respond, I do not have to worry about my setting to talk to them.

I prefer to text & receive text only with those I've seen in the past, we are familar with one another/comfortable/friends, Before meeting with one email works best, but everyone has their own ways of things!

such as RingCentral, which don't allow texts to come through... and others of us prefer not to use a traceable phone number for our business communications. So, texting isn't always the preferred method.

I find texting a pain (I have an old cellphone.) and my state has now outlawed texting while driving, so that can be a hassle as well.

as that information has a way of sitting around on someone's server for a long long time

and I don't make dates with ladies who use only the phone - usually an indication of a first come first served high volume approach

Email is the only way I make first contacts other than *occasionally* via PM here

but

I am accustomed to making arrangements and just chatting with providers and agencies via text, once the introduction has been made.

Many seem to prefer it.....

I have recently found out that a text messege is NOT admissable in court(atleast here in Ga) because anybody can say, hey can I use your phone please, and then send a text. There is no way of proving who sent the messege. I do prefer a phone call though so I can get a feel for who I am talking to. Once we have met then texting is fine with me.

I prefer emailing me first if we have never met, but then after screening is passed and we have spent time together, its ok to call or text me, even though emailing is better because I don't like to talk unless Im alone.

Sure LE is a consideration but the primary reason is to avoid time wasters. I text message all the time with a couple of my favs but I have already proven to them that I am not going to blow up their phone with endless messages about appointments that never happen.  Also, keep in mind that many phone plans still charge by the message for sending or receiving text messages.  As anyone with teenagers knows, this can add up to hundreds of dollars a month if you are not careful.

email as the initial point of contact or my contact form on my website.I know some will not fill out forms so I offer email as well, but no text messages. The only time I will respond to a text is if I have seen the gentleman more than once.On my ads it clearly states I don't respond to text and I still get guys I have never seen texting me I never respond. After some emails before the appointment I do like to have a very short phone conversation.

I hate text messaging. Period. It does not matter if it's in this business or not. I prefer emails and telephone calls. Besides that text messages can be abused. I prefer to hear your voice or speak via emails.

I prefer phone calls so I can hear your voice and get a feel for your personality, it hasn't failed me yet. Yes, I have turned down gentleman simply based on their tone of voice or demeanor on the phone. That may sound harsh but I am a firm believer in Gut Insstinct.
I do accept emails for initial contact but a phone conversation is a mus before I agree to an appointment,

idk, mb I'm jus old fashioned...but I've never texted ANYONE ever (hobby or not) as a first contact.
I'm sure they r sayin that to cut down on 'spam' timewasters and like some have said is ok for SUBSEQUENT contact. Even have had em ask me when am I coming back to c em. Being invited back is SOOO SOOO HOT!!!

You hit it head on Bostonguy... about 85% of texts are timewasters... guys who are bored, and are just looking for a conversation, and then never make an apptointment. I personally don't like texts, and have chosen the minimum amount for outgoing on my phone plan.. I can read all that come through, but rarely respond, except to say they have to call...after my minimum is up, it's .50 a text! Regulars are a different story... they can text all they want because I know they aren't just wasting my time:)

More providers and screeners are texting now. After initial email contact, I prefer voice communication. It is kinda hard to text while I'm driving to an appointment. . . and I don't type as fast as the kids.

Text messaging is one of the most insecure way to communicate. It is short messages, easy to intercept in numerous transit points.

Many ways to stay relatively anonymous with email but not with Text messaging.

I love using text messages, for new and old clients. I do make it clear that I will only respond to polite, discrete texts that offer a bit of an introduction. I will ignore ones that say "u avail 2day?" "How much for 2 hrs". Best ones are "Hey Chloe, my names todd I was wondering if you had any availability today?" In texting and email I can respond pretty much no matter what I'm doing. If I'm at lunch with my family, walking to my class, doing grocery shopping, paying my rent at the leasing office, at the salon getting my hair done etc. If anybody tried to call during those times they would get a voicemail and its unlikely I would be able to return it promptly enough. I think you can still get a vibe from somebody from text. I also have voice contact with the texter before the appointment. For me it fits my lifestyle best.

I write long emails but I can't type a long TM. You would probably ignore me because in your example, my TM would be:

"Hi C, I m Todd. U available 2day?"

TM is meant to be short and concise.

But thank you for bringing this to my attention because your right, I might ignore the message as you wrote it. TM under the appropriate circumstance is more of a way to communicate like you would email or voice when your unable to do those options. iphones make texting a longer ridiculously easy and quick. Just my opinion I understand that this isn't everybody's preferred way, and use only a hobby phone etc.

Then again, I know them, and they have expectations that we will be meeting again.  Thus, any texting restrictions they may have no longer apply, though I minimize it's use anyway.  I usually will let the lady text me first, also, at which point I presume she's cool with it.

I wouldn't try to make first contact that way.  Since screening info needs to be provided, e-mailing this is less cumbersome.  While texting is an effective in communicating short, quick messages and questions, it is no substitute for phone calls or e-mails.

Email and text are need to be discreet during the planning stages of a meeting, esp. if SO is lurking around.  I don't want to be whispering on the phone.

And if you are away from a laptop and there are people around who you don't want to know you hobby, then Texting is the only way in this situation.

I recently had a problem with communication, because the lady's phone was wet and couldn't get through me .. Thank god for texting !

After an issue with it and a problem with premium texts that were not mine at 10$ a pop, and then a WIFE who texted me and tripped me up(I seriously thought it was him, his # and same way of text speak) I vowed no more.  It was tedious and hurt my fingers as well took WAY longer then just talking to the person.  I know it is quieter, but excusing yourself to the bathroom and talking quickly works better and gets the point across better.  To me, text was a hassle and costly(reversing those premium text took time and paperwork, it was CRAZY) and caused some real problems in a very nice gents marriage.  So I say, no thanks.

Guys remember if you are going to text erase your messages and make sure you are the only ones that have access to your phone records.  Some phone companies even allow online access to texts on any of the phones on a plan.  Could cause some big issues if in fact you are texting.  At least with a phone you can deny, with a written text it is in black and white...  YIKES

Take care and peace out all, Sage

What works for me may not for you, and may or may not for our provider friends.  So you can only go with what works for you, and hope it works with those you communicate with.

...and I don't give out my other number to those that aren't personal friends or family.

I prefer more direct conversation, as I think much is lost in text convos...especially with those that I don't know as well/don't know me as well as tone gets *really* lost in txt sometimes.

I'm certainly not interested in scheduling through text though anyway...  Text is meant for a quick exchange, not multiple back-and-forths that would be required for scheduling with any amount of decent information exchange.  I'm a detail girl, and appreciate the ability to get to know someone a bit through email and phone conversations before we meet so I have an sense about who I'm meeting with and what areas we might connect on...

I think that preference of communication varies across the board based on how a girl's lifestyle and marketing may be set up, and there will never be ONE way that any of us all agree upon for communication.

Regards,

xoM

I understand the reason for not doing it for first meetups, but after that it's like why not?  I'm not usually in a place to talk.  So I'd rather send a text.

If it's a matter of cost, ok.  Cool.  I figured most providers were using those throwaway/pay as you go cellphones that didn't have text plans anyway.
