The asshole in question would be me.  A couple pet peeves of mine are kicking into high gear, and I'm about to use my discretion in a way that will bring me peace of mind.

Aliases are allowed on TER for various purposes.  People use them.  If you don't like what a user says when they're using an alias, you have several options...
 * Ignore them
 * Send me a PM if you believe that they are trying to personally attack YOU
 * Flame them
Bitching that they're spineless for using an alias is noticeably absent from that list.  Anyone using that method will have their post pulled and will be moderated.  My trunk isn't real long, but I do have a memory like an elephant, and this moderation will last as long as I remember for.

Spelling.  Try it, you'll like it.  I use my phone a lot to post and moderate, and understand that typos happen.  But the word YOU has only 3 letters.  Use them all.  This isn't a request.  Once again, I'll pull anything that looks like a text message, or something posted by a teenager.

Oh, and since I know that this will piss off a few people, let me clarify something.  GaGambler is hearing this the same way that you are.  Politically incorrect of me (anyone surprised?) but this one is on me.  Direct your anger appropriately.  Or bitch to him about it, lol.

Except I'll insert me as the asshole.

Also, asking "why the Alias" hardly ever gets the desired response.

OMG, Ur my hero. Kewl.

Unless I am "trying" to be funny and the alias adds to the joke, or I am talking of something I did I don't want everyone to know, like the time I wore a dress to the prom, before I knew I was straight.
I'm thinking about writing country music.

I like how "Spelling" and "Try it, you'll like it" are not complete sentences, and yet you end them with a period anyway.  That's not something I would ordinarily notice, except when someone is complaining about the spelling of others, and only then I notice little things about their own grammar.  I like how you are not afraid to go there.

I also like how you come to the defense of people who use aliases to hit and run.  I have never thought of them as a class of people that need the protection of moderators, but now I know.  With that in mind, I end this post with a one word sentence.  Bravo.

I hope that's Okay.

If you choose to snipe from the sidelines, make sure you know what the fuck you are talking about. Capisce?

Capisce is a question therefore followed by a question mark and not dictating a complete sentence. Get over yourself and go back to English Composition 101.

I found you're post laughable. Testing, testing 123.

you are not a prick about it.

I'm not sure why stating that one is a coward, spineless etc. for using an alias is a problem.

As four spelling eye dew knot sea that as a reel big deal, but however maybe perhaps aye mite try to due more better.

"Spelling" is a complete sentence too, and soon to be someone's extra alias.

It's not as much a problem as it is useless.  Kinda like the guy that bitches about politicians and then doesn't vote.  Do you really think that if you're the 600th person to call someone spineless that they're going to get it all of a sudden and stop?  If a poster says something that you feel is over the line, it is appropriate to bitch to the mod, post in kind, or ignore.  Calling them names seems dumb, and if you're (generic you) portraying yourself as superior by using your real fake name, it seems even dumber.  It may not seem like it, but I disallow a lot of stuff.  You guys just see the really tame posts.

Besides, mine can mostly be figured out anyway.

So in short:

Mods only notice inappropriate posts when regular members do their job for them by pointing them out. Got it.

Flames from an alias are okey dokey. Calling a spade a spade is not. Roger that. Seriously? Moderating someone over it? No, no God complex here. Nu uhhhhh. Nope. No way.

As one who types in complete sentences, including punctuation, I too cannot help but mentally deduct IQ points from a poster who uses u, r, etc as stand alone words. But really? You've chosen to take on the title of Grammar Police too?

Well, TER IS currently searching for new moderators. *sigh* one can only hope. Back to my corner to contemplate the appropriateness of the use of "Little".

sometimes it does make you feel better to call a spade a spade. I will refrain from calling them a coward as per your request. I just don't like running to the mods and I can't use both my real fake name and an attack alias in the same post to reply in kind as being as crude as some aliases may keep some ladies away if I use my real fake name. I guess that leaves me with the ignore option. But it does not give me an opportunity to vent. I have no problem with aliases except when they are used to attack, harass or imitate others. Maybe less people would complain about aliases if the obvious alias attack posts were pulled. OK, new rule understood but not liked.

What you mmean in that it is useless, I guess if they do not already know they are spineless they are just not intelligent enough to figure it out .

Also I always thought it is against TER rules to mention in a post or use th the name of someone who is banned in any way shape or form and that it is grounds to ban one who does, and flip the alias.

Just think, you could then become the QueenBitch of the board as a mod. But wait, don't you already claim that honor?   rofl

I read this post yesterday but wanted to take time to carefully reply since my first (over)reaction was that it was directed largely at me but I’m not sure.  My second reaction was to not reply, but that wouldn’t help answer the questions I, and it turns out others as well, have.  Option #3 was to send a PM but then I looked at the number of e-mails I received (not PMs) and realized a lot of others have the same basic questions I do.  Since I’m obviously not shy about posting I decided to post it here.

Phil, no anger on my part.  But a lot of confusion and frustration trying to figure out what the TER rules really are.

It’s OK to flame a post by an alias as one of the three valid replies, but I and others have been moderated when I thought I was doing just that, flaming an alias’ post who desperately needed flaming.  Serious question:  what’s acceptable flaming and what’s not?  I’m not being a smart ass about this and I’m not the only one who’s confused.  It’s not OK to call them a coward, so OK, I won’t any more.  I don’t follow why that’s less tolerable than calling them an asshole, a stupid prick, or some of the other assorted flames that seem acceptable.  Seriously, there’s a bunch of members who lurk but don’t post anymore because they feel the “accepted” way to flame someone here has become to use a string of swear words (as in Jack Shitt’s posts) and they aren’t comfortable writing that.  And they don’t feel safe writing any of the mods about it for fear of getting banned (yes, they feel that).  I clearly don’t since I’ve written you several times before; I don’t necessarily agree with some of your replies but you’re the mod and I never sensed any retaliation/retribution/unfairness in your replies.

The frustration is the ambiguity.  Is it that Jack’s tirades are directed against the entire female population so that’s OK, but lashing out at a particular individual is not?  Is it that aliases are expected to be assholes so when they act that way others should just accept it?  But then at the top of this page it says “Welcome to the TER General discussion board.   This is a moderated forum dedicated to discussing the hobby, erotica, and sex related subjects. PLEASE NOTE, FLAMES and posts outside of the forum topics WILL BE REMOVED.”

Not questioning your mod rights, just asking because a bunch of folks don’t comprehend.  Hell, I still don’t understand why I was moderated last time.

PS:  While I understand your annoyance at bad spelling, a good spell checker tool would go a long way towards fixing that.  Some of us are very spelling impaired (I’m at the head of the list on that one).

First off, AL, WTF?

If you have to fucking sit there and take your time to respond to this, or any other fucking post, you're a pussy.

I don't know what the hell you're bitching about being moderated. You know how many times I'VE been moderated? Shit! If I had a review for every time I was fucking moderated I'd be nippin' on BeefEater's heels!

And I'm willing to guess LP did half of them!

Fuck. They're not going to ban us for stupid shit. You'd basically have to walk in TER HQ and spray the place with bullets before you get banned. I know, because I tried and I'm still here. Too drunk and couldn't figure out how to take the safety off.

Now. If anyone has anything they have no clue about, as in your 'friends', why don't they just PM LP? Or do they actually exist? I mean, you're speaking for you and whom?

I have no problem PMing LP if I have a bitch or a question. He's the mod. It's his job. He doesn't get payed for it, but he took on the responsibility. And part of that responsibility is to answer dumb-ass questions from you, me, and everybody else.

Fuck. And as far as Jack, he's not attacking anyone inparticular, and anyone with half a brain knows who he is and that he's entertaining himself as well as others that can appreciate that sort of rhetoric.

Yeah, some fucking people can't appreciate that sort of shit. But they don't mind burying their dick, or getting a dick buried, in an ass. Seems hypocritical to me. They can 'fuck' but don't like to hear the word? Shit.

I'm not attacking you, dude. And this post might very well be pulled after awhile. But fuck, grow a pair.

We're not on a board dedicated to needlepoint or gardening. You pointed out yourself, this is a board dedicated to discussing the hobby, erotica, and sex related subjects. So here and there you're going to hear shit from animals because basically that's what we are. Some are doctors, lawyers, clerks, taxi drivers, WTF ever. But we're here to satisfy our animalistic urges. Tell me I'm wrong?

If I was wrong, and we were so upstanding and moralistic, there wouldn't be so many people here that are married or have SOs. They'd make their shit work, instead of looking elsewhere. And those of us that are single would be looking for that relationship instead of looking to get our dicks wet and the lady's pussies pushed in.

Rant over.

But I happen to agree with AlfredReader post. Sometimes it seams like the alias get to break TER policy but the one time I posted something that was close to a personal attack that was nowhere as bad as what I see others under aliases post it got pulled. I have had my aliases that I used to protect my wifes privacy indirectly linked to my TER handle by an alias and the post was never pulled. Now LP says if we call a spade a spade he will moderate us for as long as he remember why he moderated us. That is a bit over the top. I found AlfredReader post reasonable given how he is constantly harassed by fool using aliases. I too would like to see a reply to his posts. My wife would post but does not want to be attacked. She is one of the ones who just lurk because of the antics of some on this board most using aliases. Some of us do not want to run to the mods they have enough on their plate without hearing my gripes. Besides The one time I PMed them with a question they never responded. AlfredReader did not attack the mods in his post he just posted a question I myself have. MP67 I am your friend and I know that little phil is your friend but I have to say I think your post is a bit off. I too am confused as to what is acceptable around here.

This guy and his ilk are no doubt unsuccessful, insignificant losers in real life so they come here trolling the boards in hopes of intimidating and insulting others making himself, in his mind, feel superior to others via unprovoked and unwarranted attacks, and insults, but as in real life he/they are a failure here too.
He and they clearly lack the intelligence to contribute to the community in a positive way and certainly have no creativity since they just use/twist /spoof the names in the alias, once again an unsuccessful attempt at an insult.
So it is obvious that he/they are so unsuccessful in all aspects of real life, here, and with women (both civvies and providers) that he/they resort to the name calling and insulting others but what he/ they say to and about others is what he/they really are.
He/They are sad pathetic insignificant little trolls looking for attention.
The general wisdom is to ignore him/them, but I do admit that I do on occasion fire back.
So I’m not sure what the answer is. What is grounds to flip an alias? that may work.
As I asked in an above post, is it against the rules and grounds for banning when the name of a banned person is used in a post or in any form, such as an alias?

I invite any and all of them to put their dishonest and insulting spin on it and have the last word.

Thank you

Never said that it was OK to flame using an alias.  However, I also don't approach an alias any differently than a non-alias.  If someone replies to a post, and the OP is offended, they should PM me or GaGambler.  I don't pull things because they offend me.  I pull things because they run afoul of my interpretation of the rules.  If you are offended and you PM me, I'll happily take a second look.  As an example, I have an alias that is offensive in nature and is aimed directly at one individual.  He knows it's me; I told him.  He was amused.  He's a guy that I respect.  While someone else may look at it and think that someone is being mean, he knows it's me, and is fine with it.  Call it an inside joke.

Al, directly to you, there are a handful of people here that don't care for you.  If they were not allowed to use aliased, they'd say the same things.  That doesn't make it right, but it also doesn't make an alias an evil thing.  I don't intend for that to be personal.  Plenty of people here don't like me either.  It's what you do with it that matters.  Sometimes it's best to not jump in the fight.  Save the powder for the real battle.  If you don't want to get me involved, that's fine.  I won't miss more PMs.  But, not sending them says that you are OK with the post being left up.  So, your call.

Jack's tirades...LOTS of people here complain about Jack.  But he knows the rules quite well.  I don't recall any incidents where he's claimed that any particular person is bad.  If a lady is offended that Jack hates them, perhaps a gender reassignment is in order, or she should shake her head and laugh.  If he calls "her" fat, she should look in the mirror.  Assuming that she's not fat, life keeps going.  Are you following me?  Hope so.
