After the first sentence. Sounds like the interaction would be way to cerebral for the head that drives the hobby.

I had read a website about the "naked shrink" or something like that, but she did not have sex with her clients from what I can understand, nor was she a licensed counselor. Even with a Masters in Psychology, you are not licensed to counsel...that is another concentration you have to have.

A Master's degree, or even a PhD, is not nearly sufficient to become a state-licensed therapist.  The individual must also pass rigorous exams given by the relevant state's licensing board, and this after completing thousands of hours of providing therapy under the supervision of an experienced therapist.

For instance a Masters in Psychology at a University here, is pointless. You have to go to Loyola for the actual counseling degree (which actually is only a Masters) before you can test, and you must also intern for one year in a state hospital. All that is needed is a Masters, but it must be in a Counseling aspect, not just Psychology. Check out both Loyola and UNO and you will see what I am talking about. UNO only offers a Psychology degree, while Loyola offers the Counseling Concentration that is needed to actually do anything with.

As long as one does not represent oneself as having a license that one does not, nor having a degree one does not; then what is the harm of seeing someone for one on one (not sexual!) counseling?

I saw a therapist for years who had transmission to teach from a notable Zen Master in Japan, as well as a degree from the School Without Walls, in New York City.

It was pretty inexpensive, and very, very helpful to boot.

It would be a shame if such arrangements could no longer be made.

In my state, only the term "Psychologist" is reserved exclusively for state-licensed therapists.  Other "titles" can be used freely.  

Of course, representing yourself as having a state license  which you do not have is not allowed.

The best way to confirm a person's credentials is to simply ask them.  They should have no problem telling you (as your counselor did with the credentails he claimed) the license and/or degrees, and who granted them.  If they claim to be state licensed, ask for their state license number, and contact the state licensing board to confirm the license.  Then you can judge for yourself whether you want to become a client.

Now, all these witch doctors and gurus, don't need one because they are not using modern medicine or psychological aspects to base their theories on, but if you are claiming to be a sex therapist or a counselor of most any sort, you better have the credentials to back it up, or you face liability charges. Now, of course not in the hobby lol, because who is going to file?

You can be a guide, an aide, a consultant, an educator, a guru, all kinda' things...  It's not an issue until someone is misrepresenting themselves as holding a degree or license that they do not.

And as mentioned, it is different from state to state.  Washington only regulated "counselor" licensing a few years back.  Until then, anyone could counsel... In fact MANY people who had been counseling for years had to change their titles to accommodate the new laws, as the state required ten years of documented counseling history to apply for a waiver to the new education and testing requirements.

For some ladies it's all about presentation and not being raunchy in a public ad...as if we dont know from her reviews that she will fuck you right....she shouldn't have to spell it out more.
Ever heard the saying "a lady in the streets (ie. public) and a freak in the bed"?
There are different types of men, some like a discreet ad, others want a pussy shot and her to straight out say "i have sex for money". To each their own....

There is one girl who calls herself "A caterer" and her restaurant's menu is on her website with cutesy little diner chairs and old time shake mixers. I thought the concept was great, discreet, and original, but when she posts an ad, she kind of makes it more obvious what she is selling lol.

I get your point and I certainly understand nuance and cute euphemism on a ladies website - as London described, but IMHO gents, look at the donation and gallery sections first and then read the prose. While then prose need not be graphic, it should be clear and genuine and not overly pseudo intellectual.
