So I saw a whisper photo on google of a provider saying that a client told her that she had saved him from killing himself because she was willing to listen to him.
This made me wonder if any providers here have stories of a client who's life they positively impacted in a powerful way. It could be preventing their suicide, helping them get over depression or anxiety, something along those kind of lines where you helped someone through a very rough patch in life. Or you could give a story about how this job has really helped you. And other hobbyists, I know its very personal but if you want to share an example of how a provider helped you through something hard, I'd like to hear those stories too.

Here is how I expect to be impacted. I expect to walk in the door horny and to leave satisfied. I don't see hookers as life consultants, I don't see them because I am depressed, I see hookers because I am a horny old goat and it's FUN.
If you just want someone to "talk you off the ledge" might I suggest a good bartender, they are a lot cheaper than hookers.

That's one of the benefits of being a known drunk, when I say something stupid I can just own it and pretty much say "Yeah, I said it,.I was drunk, now go fuck yourself" I've found people tend to respect that approach more than the "weasel approach" after saying something REALLY REALLY dumb. lol
One thing about the weasel approach though. It is absolutely hilarious watching someone twist themselves into a pretzel trying to defend the indefensible.
when someone very close to me passed away suddenly the provider that I was seeing regularly helped me. It was as simple as some OTC time either talking about my loss or just hanging out while I regained my sense of balance.
I'd like to think I've helped one or two of my regular providers by giving advise or just listening after something shook their world.
It doesn't even have to be in person. A few well-placed calls, texts or emails can go a long way.
... I know well (and thus trust that they were being honest with me). Also I've seen corroborating posts on TER from some clients of these providers saying how they helped them. So I know it happens.
One provider in particular helped me in a very significant way, by that I mean life-changing, because she was willing to listen and then asked if she could help me, and then gave that help. I've tried to return her kindness by supporting her through a couple of challenges she's faced--not life-altering ones, but we do what we can.
but a gal recently exposed my tendency to ask cute questions as a cover for sarcasm that was hurtful to her, thus exposing my being a jerk, to my betterment.
