Being single, and only having to provide for myself. I spend on average between 60 to 80 bucks on food alone for myself. That's about 240 to 320 a month.
For my monthly hobbying I now budget 300 to 400 a month. I'll see one or two really good providers off eros, are see 4 average providers off backpage.
At the of the year I spend around $2,880 to $3,840 on food & $2,880 to $4,800 on hobbying, which means I spend about 20% more on hobby then food some months.
daunting figures? I know guys that spend six figures on hobbying alone per year That's a scary site for the eyes. I mean, I ain't rich, and I'll probably spend that amount too if I had the money. One year, I added my hobbying figure, and it was as much as a new Toyota Camry
if I had that much free to spend on hobbying. My goal until I die is to engage 2, drop jaws to the floor when I see them, drop dead gorgeous hotties a week. If I think a woman is worth the fee she is asking and I can afford that fee, I hook up with her no other questions asked.
For example I spent about $35k on groceries and dining out (mainly dining out...I don't eat at home much), but much of the dining out was with providers, so do I include the provider dining expense in with the hobby expense thereby increasing the ratio or keep it separate thereby reducing the ratio.
Additionally, the 2:1 ratio might make sense if you spent $500 a month on groceries and $1k a month on the hobby, but if you kept the ratio the same and spent $250k last year on providers, you would be one fat bastard.

that my hobby spending in last year was twice more than grocery&dining out.

and it's about half my grocery budget, I get $300 per month, but I've added a part time job and have a whole host of other places I pick up extra cash. I save it up and spend it twice a year in Vegas. I take "three" budgets with me, gambling, vacation and the girls. They all come from different sources and I don't let them mix. In fact the gambling $$ and the girl $$$ have their own bank accounts. Cool thing is I won $400 three years ago and I'm still playing with it, got it up to $1,800 but lately they've been taking it back, down to $1k now.
But the coolest thing is nobody knows, so the family keeps giving me a little extra to gamble with. Guess where that goes..
My hobby spending has averaged about 20% higher than my grocery and dining out spending over the past couple of years.
On the other hand, my golf spending has averaged more than twice my grocery and dining out spending over the same period. Now there is a serious case of misplaced priorities!
Thanks for the question. I need to do some better prioritizing, it appears.
