But shouldn't this be on the S&P board?   LOL

I think TER should implement a grammar policy for threads to be posted... seriously! You don't have to write perfectly, but some of the shit they allow to be posted as a main thread is just moronic. The cops are going to think we have toddlers posting on here.

If you can't articulate beyond a 3rd grade level, how the hell did some of you pass high school, much less those advanced courses you claim to be enrolled in? Last I checked, there was an entrance exam and either SAT or ACT requirement for even the crappiest of schools to let you in.

I don't want to mock people for how they write/type, but there should be some standard as to what is allowed as a legitimate and coherent thought.

 Just sayin.

1. Who wants to do the thankless job of reviewing these? Does a reviewer have to reread the edits? It could be a worse job than being a janitor at the bus station...in addition, unpaid.
2. It's a free fuckboard that doesn't make ter any money. It's one thing to minimize legal liability and prevent all out flame wars. There's no incentive for them to do this.
3. Agree: S & P board.

Therefore, I guess it's a PSA: write better, morons! Lol.

Looks like HtG has let the cat out of the bag.

Now I'm going to have to find some other unpaid moderators to do that thankless job.  Know of any?

I can't imagine there's enough upside for Nick to have to read all of AF's drivel, along with the many others that seem to write in some hybrid languages.

I'd put you in charge of converting Angel's and Bibibellaeddie (err...Serafima) posts into comprehensible posts.  Job pays well as long as you accept bitcoins (Perfectstorm is our treasurer)  LOL

No real skill required...we'll be an EEOC  ;)

Not a job I would want, thanks. I edited enough gibberish as a PA in undergrad... it was scary that most of those people even got a 2.5 out of that 4 years. My writing is not as good as it used to be, but I am not using a spell check or writing 40 page papers every week, either lol.

If nominated, I will not run.  If elected, I will not serve.

You can bring along an unpaid assistant....perhaps Ms. RayBan?

To hell with duty.  DOOKIIE!

For some people, writing good English is just not important. They fail to realize the poor impression they make on the reader and kind of emotional torture they make others go through trying to decipher their garbage.

When asked, you get typical canned answers..."Oh I am not good at writing..". "My writing sucks from the beginning. But you know what I am trying to say, right?.."

I am not sure if SAT has essay part or not. A lot of these multiple choice exams, don't require you to articulate ideas - just guess correct answers. Shit... I don't remember. Its been so long.

Lot of times its just lack of effort. A very small minority could have real issues articulating their ideas due to some medical issues or by virtue of ESL.

And He endorses your proposal. Most of the pathetic writing here could be cured if people were simply required to read their posts through before putting them up.

it only irritates the literates. so you're speaking to a very small segment.

...and didn't go to high school here, much less take the SAT.

English isn't my first language but I learned it early enough to be proficient.  Learning any language as an adult is difficult and more emphasis is placed on speaking rather than writing.

Do you have an excuse for that?

Eye reed weller than eye right. That makes more sense then Hounds doodle boxes.

... is that why you are a stickler, when it it comes to writing, You put so much effort learning how to write english only to find, that Americans don't quite give a shit

But who has really surveyed how many guys are truly ESL. Just random observation from going to M&G a while back, almost everyone I spoke with seemed like they spoke English as their first language. Associating them with their board handles made me want to ask them for a joint....lol. (assuming they were high when they posted)

Again, just random observation on my part. No scientific survey...So take it for what its worth.

But might have to do with combination of being lazy and not giving two shits....:D

Here in America, we only give one shit, if you want to give two shits you are going to have to make one your self.

Curly you need to learn how to spell using English. :-D

I knew all except "kerb". But I could do w/o her annoying English accent.

Sometimes that british accent is sexy, other times it sounds down right retarded.

I'd rate her's as somewhere in between.

... if you already knew all that, why do you continue to spell words wrong? :-

My excuse is that I rarely went to class, and when I did, I was frequently hungover.

.. So long as Angel gets a lifetime exemption. The James Joyce of TER.

I have gotten to the point where half the time I quit reading a post if it is too poorly written.

It is a little humorous when someone puts up some post written at a second grade level where they rant about some moronic shit, then they get their panties all twisted when others make fun of them.

For the record I don't claim advance degrees or education. I passed high school at a school for troubled youth thrown out of regular high school that pretty much passed you if you showed up more often than not. I have multiple disabilities that effect my writing. I have dyslexia, making it hard to spell or proof read, small motor skill issue making it hard to type, ADD making it hard to keep focused on what I am writing as my mind races ahead much faster than my pathetic typing skills allow me to write. I do make an effort but errors are constantly entering every post I write. R
This can often lead to my message being being lost. I do not mind correction as that is how one improves. I am currently taking classes to address the weakness in my education and improve my ability to over come my disabilities affecting my written communication skills. I see some of what I write and I am embarrassed because of the lack of clarity and the great number of typing, spelling, and grammatical errors. I formally apologize for my butchering of the written word. I have made great improvements in the quality of my posts but I grant you my posts can be a real pain to read.

I would not think you qualify babe. You misspell words now and then, but at least your thought process does not require a decoder ring. :)

never thought you had any of those issues. Hats off to you my friend...

so that people can send to you whatever they have written so that they can see if you approve of it.

Pretty simple.

If you set up a website, you can include lots of other things you do not approve of.
