New crop of Escorts?

I heard about this while watching UPN news last night (you know, Lauren Sanchez would make a superb stripper...).

I can't believe the ban was unanimously approved. Is everybody on the council that prudish? This is Los Angeles, not Salt Lake City.

And what's with this six-foot separation bullshit? If a dancer is sitting in a chair two feet away from me, I could be fined or put in jail? Are you shitting me!?!

Just when I thought floaters were exasperating enough, now state-licensed security gaurds are on duty during all hours of operation. Great, strip club sentinels.

Now here's a slippery slope if I've ever heard one:

"Supporters of the restrictions say adult cabarets contribute to prostitution, drug use and other illicit behavior."

Prostitution? I think the council is confusing strip clubs with massage parlors. Drugs? Frankly I don't see the connection. And let's get a definition of 'other illicit behavior.'

Let's hope this ruling is reversed quickly. I don't want to be rude, but where are all these L.A. strippers going to work? I don't think the majority of them have an accouting degree to fall back on. Does the city really want ex-strippers working low-skilled customer service jobs?

I bet these girls are feverishly looking for a sugar daddy to latch onto right now...


What's more, NN, is that the city council and all the voting housewives are unbelievedly nieve if they think this is the way to go about ending prostitution. A lot of those out-of-work strippers aren't going to be looking for low-skill customer sevice jobs. If they wanted to do that and could afford to live off the meager income, they would be doing it now instead of stripping. I wonder how many more escort adds we're going to find in the L.A. Weekly we're going to find now....
