I don't really mean to come across as harsh as I might have sounded, it's just been my experience that most books and authors that talk about "secret societies" aren't worth the paper they are written on. I guess I should wait to hear what you have to say before passing judgement.

when my friends and I went into NY after clubbing in NJ. On our way to Little Italy, my friend drove by the Javits Center and there were 100 girls like you described. Since I was a newbie to NY, I was in shock given their dress attire or lack thereof. I believe it was a few blocks from there and I remember the girl's name too (aren't we supposed to remember our first?) and I wouldn't be surprised if she is part of your book.

what you got from the streetwalkers was probably only part of the entire story. Whether you were a major player back then or not, I'm positive you didn't see OR hear even half of what really went on (or still goes on) with the girls. They may have been somewhat honest, but I guarantee you didn't hear it all.

I'd even go so far as to tell you that you were told what you most wanted to hear, what the girls thought you wanted to know, thus keeping the myths, mystique and misinformation active.

I'm not surprised that you got a couple contracts about it. The so-called "secret" society holds morbid fascination for those who

**judge it (and the girls) harshly while defending the men who visit them;
**want to "save" the girls from their sinful lives;
**insist that streetwalkers (all escorts in general) have had hard lives that drove them to this life, and indeed are still taking drugs and abusing alcohol;
**refuse to believe that the girls chose this life after intelligent and clear thinking;
**think that such a life is trafficking and that the hobbyists are exploiting the girls;
**don't believe that it's usually consensual; and
**those who are interested in the sexy parts.  

I'd be interested in reading your book, but then I have an escort's view of things. Good luck; you're going to need it against those who will try to tar and feather you for "indulging in trafficking."
