because this is all that I know in relation to Escorting..
but I would venture to say that it would, and has. The internet provides a great communication tool and communication is essential in all relationships. So, certainly..

Certain sites are better than others. It does give people the chance to check up out.
I know I am not everyone's cup of tea, but at least they can read about how wild I am...lmao

The past seven months that I have frequented TER
have been my only exposure to escorts, but I would think the concept of customer review sites would be so important to bettering the business...ESPECIALLY for customers.  Without review sites, one would be dependent on whatever a provider would choose to advertise (unless you had a dependable recommendation).  This way, one can know whether the pic is for real, what services are available, and how well they are performed.  Sure, sometimes it takes a bit of work to get the full story on a provider, but if it wasn't for TER, I would never have gone down this road...I would be gambling with money, my time, LE, my potential satisfaction, and it wouldn't be worth it.

Having been in the hobby for 38 years I would say the internet an review sites have at least made it a lot easier to find a good escort and I assume it has led to there being more out there since it has created a good market and escorts need to be responsive to market opinion.  The down side is that some good ones have become so popular as a result that it is nearly to book with them or their prices have gone out of site.  But this approach to the hobby sure beats the days of cruising the streets, blindly answering newspaper or yellow pages ads, or going to an unknown AMP.

Now there's less hit-or-miss, but a consistently higher price for anyone who gives decent service, I suspect. "Legitimizing" in any form also tends to offer greater benefits to the business-person as well as to the client, not only in terms of profit, but also safety, cleanliness, working conditions, etc. Gone (well, more accurately "going") are the bad old days of hiding out on the back streets of blighted industrial areas and linking one illicit trade -- sexual services -- with another -- drugs.

There will always be a demi-monde. Internet reviewing hasn't eliminated it, it's just provided a NEW monde where people can meet for providering.

compared to the variance in service and the potential danger of seeking service from non-established sources.  As you implied, this is good for the providers as well, and they now even have the ability to check references on their customers.  There may have been something alluring about the danger of driving around looking to pick up a stranger, but I will take the surety and security that TER provides anyday.
