Looks to me like he's just talking to the guy. How do we know he was really trying to get into a restricted crash site? Just because a reporter said so doesn't mean it's actually true ya know!
Maybe he was just in the area when it happened and was a look-y-loo like the dozens/hundreds of other bystanders were. Maybe he has a place in the area and was asking what roads were open so he could get home? Maybe he had family/friends that live in that area and was asking for information out of concern for their safety?
I have a true dislike for the media in this country so I'm always skeptical. They looooove to twist nothing into something just to fabricate a story. And that picture in itself, without the reporters caption, is as harmless as can be.

I personally believe he is an outstanding actor but I dispise his politics. No matter what your opinion of him you have got to admit that he is completely insane.
demonstrates just how self-dellusional he is. What was he gonna do when he gets to the scene? Had this been a terrorist act, he would only have interfered with the collection of evidence. As is, his lack of respect for the police and emergency workers who are trying to do their job to provide for the public safety, is grotesquely displayed by this picture... I only wish that it would be plastered all over the cover of every newspaper in the country to say to our "Entertainers" - " dudes and dudettes, we love you as entertainers, and it must have taken you years to study perfect your craft - much as it has taken years for us to study and perfect our crafts.... so quit the pokin your nose into things you know NOTHING about...."
Having worked in emergency medicine, I can only comment that the time and effort necessary to deal with well-intended individuals who are not qualified to "carry water" is significant... especially in this day and age - where everyone thinks that they know what they are doing... some more than others.... I mean, really. What would be fascinating is to sit Mr. Baldwin down and examine his educational background and his experience to see if indeed, there was anything that would lead a rational person to believe that his presence would have been anything other than a hindrance to rescue ops.
What a pompous ass.

since he won't get any from his new show, 30 Rock. I turned to another channel after 5 minutes. I'll bet it's cancelled by the end of the month.
That area was roped off for a reason. I hate these pompous celebrities who feel they have special privileges or entitlements just because of their recognition. If I were that cop, I wouldn't hesitate to throw his butt in jail for impeding a police investigation.

I hope everyone reads your post.
I highly respect Alec's acting skills and have enjoyed many of his movies. BUT this is the guy who vowed to leave the country both times if George Bush got elected! I am certain that, if true, his efforts to enter the building in NY yesterday were solely to secure the undeniable proof that President Bush was to blame for the airplane flying into the building, due to his (Bush') focus on Iraq, or due to Bush taking time to pet a dog instead of watching the private planes flying in NY.
roll in the hey with jenna and babs would be ok, I suspect that good ole Alec was there to simply cause trouble.... He seems to have an anger management problem... and I have no doubt that the expression on his face in the photo was intimidating.... and that he was being asked to "step aside." Consider what one close to him said: "In a statement released late yesterday, Basinger storms, "Everyone knows about Alec Baldwin's behavioral problems—his anger, his rages—they are, unfortunately, legendary""
In short, he is so wrongly wired that courts have limited his time with his kid.... not good.
And as I say, I am no lover of bush, but I am also no lover of an opposition that is blind with rage. Neither is good for the country.
I dunno- "If you are not OUTRAGED- you are NOT PAYING attention"- so true-
And its good that a guy like this is always ready to pop off. But this one time - he might have backed the fuck off to better effect. IMHO
Did you watch Bush's press conference yesterday? How this bumbling fool got elected twice is beyond me.....oh, yeah. Gays and abortion. When tax cuts and the war on terror don't raise the poll numbers the Republicans can always fall back on those two issues.
Isn't he also the one who was on TV like a year ago for trying to close down a local porn store in his area? He was taking pictures of the customers. Or was that his brother? It was one of those guys, mabey it was William.
Sara
Goofy looking younger one, can't remember his name. He turned bible thumper and started a crusage to close down an adult venue (either a strip club or adult store, can't recall) in upstate NY where he lives.
Kim Basinger had called him moments earlier and told him she and a 20-year old stripper were waiting upstairs to "kiss and make up".
Like others have said, without being there, without any audio recording or reporting of what was said, we can't truly know why Baldwin was there. For all we know, he might actually have had family or friends in the building.
Or he could've been pissed off because the police cordon blocked his quickest route to his favorite provider or strip joint or bar or hot dog stand...
We just don't know.
