Because of medical reasons, I haven't seen a provider since August, and won't be able to see one until probably May. Two of the last three I saw last year were repeats. Do you think providers I approach in May will be willing to take references from a year prior?

An issue with having one of the provider's you regularly see be a reference.
If you have any concerns maybe reach out to your references and ask if they will provide you a reference for May.

provider. I don't see why it should be a problem if the say provider could get in contact with the 2 providers you have.

Whatever provider you contact tell them upfront your situation with references but I really don't see it being a big issue. If it is, there are many providers that have another option for screening.
