Your regular TER handle is just as much an alias as your alias, as far as a google search goes... how would someone identify you via google search (unless you've chosen your given name as your handle :-)

A lot of guys do alias reviews more to protect themselves from an annoyed provider if they are giving a bad review, I think. I don't see how it gives you any more anonymity than that.

You couldn't do an alias review in the past, but have been able to for a while now.

I'm posting as much of a question as any type of answer because I'm definitely not an expert on this, I don't use aliases, and I don't worry about anonymity for myself. My real, given name is actually "clarence37". Numbers 1-36 were all defective in some way and had to be destroyed, but I have lasted for almost 50 years.

if one wanted to minimize exposure to google searches of reviews, etc., would it be prudent to use aliases for reviews and PMs.
1)  can/should one use an alias to post reviews/PMs for privacy reasons, i.e., google/search engines?  what are the advantages/drawbacks to doing so?
2)  are there any problems w/ using this approach?  
3)  are there ter policies / best practices that would make this approach impossible/unfeasible?

perhaps the more seasoned veterans on the board can assist us rookies & provide some corporate knowledge concerning this/these issues.  would appreciate any feedback on those questions that us "rookies" might not have the vision/experience to ask.  thank-you for your assistance!

There are many valid reasons to use an alias. (Of course the anti alias people will say there are no valid reasons). Hiding from google is not one of them! Aliases are just as searchable on google as are usernames. The key to being safe from google searches is to choose a username that has absolutely no connection to you in. "real life."
Sounds like you may have picked one that does tie in to your real life. Ask admin to change it. It's that simple.

handle or the email you signed in with. I have tried to run aliases through verifyhim.com and they don't seem to be connected to a guy's log in info. I believe they are working on changing that. If you are that worried, just don't write reviews babe. No one is forcing you.

1. Currently, they let you change your alias only once, and then it's like they're doing you a favor.  I can see disallowing switching aliases every week, like it used to be, but the whole point of an alias is to preserve anonymity.  After you've had the same alias for many months, you somewhat lose that.  Perhaps allowing a change every 3 months should be considered.
2.  You can change main handles and TER will courteously transfer your credited days to your new one.  Unfortunately, they will not transfer your White List referrals to your new handle.  This policy should be rethought.

It has reviews on it, and it is no different than my regular handle in that both don't show who I am.  I mean, my given name isn't Crazyshit, so it makes no difference what my real TER handle is, either.

For me, the alias is just what I use because seems to weed out the morons that don't know how to use TER.
