Some experts are predicting the US will reach herd immunity by April, but that doesn’t mean that Covid will be gone.  Individuals can and will be susceptible to the virus.

But the bad news is many people still won’t be vaccinated. Polls indicate up to 50% of Americans would refuse the vaccine if offered it today.

Please consider this info about a full dose of the vaccine:

1. Effectively ELIMINATES the risk of death
2. Nearly ELIMINATES the risk of hospitalization
3. Drastically reduces the ability to infect someone else

Will we get to a point where providers and mongers will need proof of vaccination?  Maybe. We’ve already seen providers advertise “Covid Tested” and “Vaccinated” would be the next logical step.

So, YES, get vaccinated if you qualify. But don't try to jump the line because doses are still in short supply despite the fact that many are leery of taking the shot.
I got my first shot nearly two weeks ago and I'm fine. Just a slightly sore arm for a day and exactly the same as other vaccines I've gotten. I got the Pfizer vaccine which an Israeli study released yesterday said conferred 85% immunity in the first dose. But you still need the second to promote full -- and long term -- immunity.
I've seen some say it's an "experimental" drug, which is not true. The mRNA technology has been developed over twenty years and the vaccines were tested using standard CDC protocols with nothing speeded up and no corners cut.

People in my age group shouldn’t expect to get vaccinated until late summer. Other than an aunt in her mid-70’s, none of my family, friends or coworkers have been able to get their first shot yet. If what my doctor at Kaiser told me was true, then herd immunity may not be achieved until fall at the earliest. Who knows?

. . . a little earlier than I had anticipated, and looking forward to the second. Well, "looking forward" is maybe a stretch, considering what I've heard about reactions to the second shot. Looking forward to being a little safer, more like.

I have to admit, I haven't completely abstained during this long pandemic, nor will I dive in in a big way I've gotten the full course of the vaccine. Budget and the scarcity of getaway time will be here long after COVID-19 recedes. But there are at least a couple of excursions I've been putting off, that I will be happy to enjoy in the coming months.

I am still very patiently waiting my turn. I did look it up and "oil field workers" are considered "essential workers" but all of my hands have already had COVID and I am not particularly worried about catching it myself, so I will wait until my "real" turn has come to get vaccinated. I don't want to be accused of jumping the line line like the 31 year old AOC did. I am really not THAT essential and neither are many of the other people jumping the line. Grandma and Grandpa first, along with front line medical workers too of course and then I think it should be people with multiple co-morbidities next and then way down at the bottom of the list people like me, barely sixty, in perfect health with very little exposure to the public, "pubic" yes, as I am still seeing hookers and SB's, but I have very little interaction with the public at large during the course of my business.

I notice you aren't asking HER to provide proof of vaccination, so why do you feel the need to provide proof yourself?

For the record, I am NOT part of the conspiracy crowd that believes you will get COVID itself from the vaccine or that you'll grow an extra toe after getting the shot. lol I am just not particularly scared of getting the virus myself, I don't "want" to get it any more than I want to get the flu or even the common cold, I just don't see it as a life or death thing for myself, so I am perfectly happy to wait my turn, while still living my life of course.

About jumping the line ... I am just 68, but the hospital associated with my audiologist started emailing and calling me to come in for the vaccine.  I suspect they get shipments and due to the short lifespan they cast as wide a web as they can to get people to come in an get the shots before the batches go bad.  I'm sure there are older people than me who are not on their contact list who I am getting in ahead of.  But the shots will go to waste. So I don't feel guilty.

Depending on where u live (didn’t look but assuming westcoAst for Kaiser) and how old U are, there are variations in the VA and Kaiser protocols. However your info is probably off about not being able to get it. It really depends on the supply at your VA or Kaiser location. Sure some people have not been able to get it.

But Enterprising people have figured out which locations have enough stock to do walkins on the first dose (and then a second dose is scheduled on that). If you’re interested, ask your doctor to recommend a vaz site. In the VA case you get it through a doctor’s appointment order for “Return to Clinic [city three letter code] covid vaccination [pfiz or Mod]”. The date given is usually a month or so in the future.

mRNA has been in use for a while and beyond the "experimental" stage. They are actually safer than standard vaccines as they simply don't have the virus at all so you don't have to worry that some live virus got included in your vaccination.

Not quite right.  "Gene therapy" is for patients with a mutated or missing gene product (protein) that leads to a disease (e.g., sickle cell anemia). The therapy inserts DNA into cells where it remains for a long time (years to forever). That DNA makes "good" proteins that are otherwise missing or defective in that patient and restores some function that otherwise led to the disease. The disease is partially or completely fixed by the insertion of the "good" gene copies.
.
An inoculation with mRNA inserts a small piece of mRNA into cells (e.g., into the muscle in your upper arm) that make a small piece of a protein that can elicit an immune response. It's not a complete gene nor a complete protein. The mRNA degrades fairly quickly and never gets converted back to DNA and never enters the nucleus or becomes "genomic."

Yes it is mRNA antisense gene therapy against the virus.
An mRNA vaccine is not "antisense therapy" and it is not "gene therapy" which are two different things.
.
Vaccines have usually been:
1. Inject antigen (dead or weakened virus particles) into patient.
2. Patient's immune system mounts an immune response (redness, soreness on arm; immune cells throughout your body) to the weakened (non-infectious) virus particles.
3. Immune system is now primed to fight a real infection if the real virus shows up.
.
mRNA vaccines work slightly differently:
1. Inject mRNA into patient
2. Cells in the patient convert mRNA into protein, e.g., a piece of the Covid spike protein
3. Patient's immune system mounts an immune response to the spike protein fragment.
4. When the real virus with its spike protein shows up, the patient's immune system is ready to attack the spike protein and the real virus.
.
Instead of making weakened or dead virus particles, you could make a batch of purified spike protein. You could possibly inject that and get an immune response:
1. Make pure spike protein
2. Inject spike protein into patient
3. Patient's immune system ... as above.

Should I get the vaccine or not? Of course most will say yes as it's happening right now.
But does Chicken Little have a point? I could refuse the vaccine just to go against it and maybe some of us can keep the disease alive and not make it disappear forever.

The Pfizer and Moderna mRNA injections which are being emotionally forced on U.S. citizens do not meet the legal definition of "vaccine" and are therefore not vaccines. They do not stimulate immunity from the alleged SARS-Cov-2 virus which causes the Covid-19 illness; and, they do not prevent a person who has contracted the virus from passing the virus on to others. Therefore, this mRNA technology cannot promote herd immunity.

These injections are allegedly designed to perhaps lessen the severity of the adverse reaction you may experience if you contract the virus. But, eighty percent of people who receive these injections will experience a clinical adverse event/reaction.

These mRNA injections contain a synthetic pathogen which enters the cells of your respiratory tract lining and cause those cells to produce pathogens which cause a response by your immune system. In other words, they make you, at best sick; they may directly cause you to develop multiple sclerosis, Lou Gehrig's disease, Alzheimer's, or various full blown accelerated cancers; or they may terminate your life.

I still need to read up on it.  But, if I understand correctly, the Johnson & Johnson single-shit is an actual vaccine that can prevent contagion even with asymptomatic symptoms.  I heard that the efficacy is lower at 85%, but it’s considered an actual vaccine and not a treatment or however you want to categorize the current ones available.

Exactly where is "vaccine" defined in the law (which statute)?  The "mRNA vaccines" are referred to as "mRNA vaccines".  Consider that a new term of commerce and medicine. Where the context is obvious, "vaccine" is a convenient shorthand for "mRNA vaccine."
.
What is the "synthetic pathogen" in the mRNA formulations that enters respiratory cells and how does it get from the site of injection (upper arm) to the lungs?
.
MS? Lou Gehrig's? AD? Where do you come up with this nonsense?

For myself, I chose to follow the advice of my physician who I know has 35+ years of medical and scientific expertise, and every other medical professional that I know, and his/their strong recommendation was to get the shots, which I have done.

If you feel the need to get the vaccine that would be the one to get.

My 2 cents - get the vaccine as soon as you can. I’m scheduled for March 3rd.

If I run into any B-cups this week on the hooker trail, I'm going to suggest they get vaccinated and then I will book for the next day to check out those swollen C-cups!!  I wonder if there is a way to extend the swelling for a few weeks?  What do you think?   That's the kind of "side-effect" you don't complain about.  LOL

But how do you know you're allergic unless you take it,
by then it's too late you tooken it.
So what you get itchy for a while and then you're ok?

Sorry, I get it, I get it. Probably every year you need to take the vaccine and by next year you'll know it you're allergic.
see I'm not that dumb.

They will have information about if your allergic. You can get some blood tests.

Anaphylaxis is the most common allergic reaction, IIRC. This is one bottleneck of rolling them out, as you have to wait around for 15 minutes after receiving the shot to make sure you don't react.

You would not get the required second dose of Pfizer or Moderna, if you suffered Anaphylaxis.

Friendly reminder: I will take whatever of the three vaccines I can get. I'm generally somewhat skeptical of advice to get vaccinated, but, I think the covid-19 vaccines are much less of a risk than the wild virus.

That’s when one’s rectum prolapses right?  That’s a long 15 minutes waiting for that to possibly happen.  A brutal line to be in too, I’m sure!  Please wait here for 15 minutes, and let us know if your asshole drops out of your body from that shot, thanks.

COVID rates are dropping fast in Wisconsin.  Back to April and late June levels.  It appears the trend is happening across most of the country.

I have no idea why, but thank God it is happening.  Fifty percent of people 65+ in our state have been vaccinated, not exactly the most partying demographic.

Sixteen percent of the state has been vaccinated with both shots, all age groups.  So perhaps the shots are a contributing factor.  Most likely I will be waiting till April or May to get mine.

Keep an eye on Texas.  From what I have read they are going back to complete normalcy.

Just Google COVID TRENDS to follow the trending news.

I do not take medicines to prevent what is essentially equal to the seasonal flu, that is nee technology with exactly zero long term studies, with high occurrence of side effects and only 55% to 75% effective rates on granting immunity, with no evidence this immunity will last longer than a year or two. The vaccine was rushed for political reasons and has never been properly vetted. Besides, I have already had COVID-19. Dispute me being extremely high risk it was extremely mild. Catching the virus grants strong immunity to it then the vaccine so I am already better protected than the vaccine could grant. Besides there are already strains of the virus the vaccine does not protect against.

Now after some long term studies are done, after we know how long the vaccine is effective for. If shown effective and safe, long term, then yes I will get it to boost my immunity granted by my already catching the disease. I believe in properly vetted vaccines. I getbthe flu shot every year for example.. But that vaccine has had long term studies on it and much lower incidences of side effects. All the COVID-19 vaccines are rushed and not properly vetted. It has real and common side effects. It has killed some who has taken it. Yes less risky then getting COVID-19 but still. I will wait until they actually do the science not this rushed crap they did here.

Err, ex fat fuck. lol

I am happy to hear that your experience with COVID mirrors what I have seen from the many people I know who have had it. I have lost less sick days to COVID by the people who work for me than I do on a typical year to the common flu. Yes some of my guys have gotten it, but none of them have missed more than a single day of work due to it.

People love to talk about herd immunity, well I think herd immunity is going to come at least as much from everybody having been exposed to it as it will from everyone getting vaccinated.

Now speaking for myself personally, I do expect to get the vaccine sometime in the relatively near future, not because I am afraid of the virus, I rate my chances of dying from the vaccine as something like one in a million and my odds of dying from COVID as maybe one in 100,000, neither risk is statistically relevant to me, BUT it does look like a COVID shot is going to be necessary for international travel, so once all my foreign playgrounds open for business again I'll probably get the shot so as to be able to travel.

Nice to see you posting again btw.

catching COVID-19 was a none issue. I got tested because I was bored and it was free. I was shocked when it can back positive. I  had no real symptoms that I didn't dismiss as allergies.  I still think it was allergies more than COVID-19.

And the herd immunity is protected to come early this year from exposure. That doesn't mean COVID-19 just vanishes but it means the spread rate will drop significantly. COVID-19 is never going away. It has a decent mutation rate so some variation it rotating around like the flu likely forever.

I don't travel so that is not a motivation to play with half tested  politically rushed vaccine until long term studies are done. They are barely starting those now. By the numbers I am more likely to get sick from the vaccine than COVID-19 itself after already having a case of it. After all I have some old farts who work for me who got vaccinated and half missed a day to three days from side effects of this vaccine including one person who hasn't missed a single day do to illness in the four years he worked for me. I will admit though some I strongly suspect of faking it.

And we'll I got a case of the flu so I am stuck at home bored so I desided to check for  a pulse here. Still way to few ladies. But who knows I may post more in the future.

MILLIONS and MILLIONS of people have already had it which makes contact tracing completely irrelevant at this point, I haven't been sick at all this year,(just like every other year) so I see getting tested as simply a waste of time and resources that could be going to someone else who might have a very good reason to get tested, such as people who live with or are often around elderly, at risk, friends or relatives.

I completely agree that herd immunity is right around the corner, in large part because of the millions and millions of people who have already had it. I think the number of actual cases is greatly under reported, possibly by as high a multiple of 5-10 times more than reported. I wouldn't be surprised at all if I were exposed sometime over the last year and was one of the 80% of the people who never exhibited any symptoms at all. Most likely I will get tested for the antibodies "someday" when the tests are more reliable and conclusive.

Sorry it took a case of the flu to get you back here, but I hope you stick around for a while.

Did you really have covid?  THey cranked up the tests to avoid false negatives and as a result got a lot of false positives.  They did (I believe) eventually change the positive criteria to two positive tests AND symptoms.

Requiring COVID-19. I have many tests over a six month period showing active antibodies for the disease. So yes I am sure. I have 1 COVID-19 test and 24 antibody test say I did. I never felt sick. Felt like spring always does with my hay fever. But apparently a majority have light or no symptoms who catch the disease. Only surprising thing with my fairly recent fight with late stage cancer, asthma, and diabetes I was one of them. COVID-19 is supposed to hospitalize or kill people like me according to the news. Guess not.

And by hanging around with you jumped-up simians, even us reptiles can contract nasty stuff. Fuckin' "evolution"...

I decided to go with Pfizer for the higher efficacy, but mostly because the location administering Pfizer was more convenient to me.

The nurse told me that the Veterans Administration will target the J&J vaccine towards homeless vets, as a one shot vaccine is best approach for the  itinerant population.
