Does anyone else get the feeling that the 9s and 10s for ratings (especially for looks) gets given out too easily? I've seen several women lately that were receiving 9s and 10s for looks that I don't think would even get a second look if were just walking down the street. Have we as whole lowered our expectations or are guys getting swindled into giving high ratings?
Looks are subjective, although performance is as well although to a lesser extent. I know that there are women who I find unbelievable hot IRL who my male and female friends are unimpressed by. If you are into tall willowy blondes, a petite East Asian spinner may not be as much of a turn on as for someone with the opposite preferences. You seek out the looks that you are into.
One thing that I have wondered about on TER reviews is the extent to which a star performer who may be a bit older and not quite the statuesque blonde gets lower performance ratings than a model-beautiful knock out in her early 20s with only so-so performance, lots of limits, and little enthusiasm gets a higher performance rating just because of her looks. I think that the looks rating tends to bleed over into performance rating more than the reverse.
When evaluating a provider's TER profile:±

Is that there is no logic. That is, this is a matter of taste and opinion, not verifiable fact. As we are reminded from antiquity "De gustibus non est disputandum". I don't care how many men you get to vote for Anne Hathaway or Keira Knightley as a 9 or a 10, I wouldn't fuck either of them with your dick. And I never found Sofia Vergara attractive--not for a minute. On the other hand, I'm sure there's more than a handful of guys out there who think Kelly Clarkson is at least an 8, maybe even a 9.
Your "as a whole" comment suggests that there is some requirement of uniformity (no doubt to the standard you set) in taste and desire. That defies the human condition. And it suggests that--contrary to all evidence--there is one standard of beauty. Moreover, it ignores the fact that some of those women getting 9s are also getting 7s from some clients; proof that "as a whole" there is no herd movement to higher scores.
And lest we forget, this peculiar pastime of ours has changed. 35 years ago we were finding dates in the Yellow Pages and in the back pages of adult newspapers. Now young women from all over are entering the profession thanks to the internet and the flood of entrants pretty much guarantees that there will be more attractive women doing this. I don't think its a stretch to compare this to porn. Back in the day, porn stars might on the whole look like the girl you saw at the local supermarket or bar. Now, some of these women are genuinely beautiful by comparison. Using myself as an example (which is the only meaningful example when it comes to individual taste), I couldn't think of 5 adult actresses I considered beautiful in the 80s; today I could list a couple of dozen, before I even got to the Europeans!
As with all things that involve taste, I hope you find someone (or lots of someones) who make YOU happy. If that takes a little hunting, well that's just the way the Universe works.

any more than you know what race a reviewer is or how much he weighs? My official TER ID card does not have an indication of age. In my area there are far more reviewers in their 20's and 30's than 60's, based on the PM's I get from them. When guys ask me for local recommendations, I always ask their age. It's a different list for guys in their 20's to 30's versus guys in their 50's and 60's. I'm not going to recommend a girl to a young guy who is the same age as his mom unless he asks for that.

I have been hobbying since I was 21. In fact, I got turned down at local AMP because I was not 21 the first go-around. The Korean lady, in her thick accent, told me to come back once I turn 21, which I did.. I am 41 now.. So yes, I have been mongering in one form or another for 20+ yrs..
I have met lot of mongers in real life at various M&G events and whatnot. I have met plenty of them who were in late 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and and beyond.
Yes, there are very few that are in their 20s, but most being 60+ is nonsense.
My guess from those who mention their ages is 40-60 years old for the vast majority. i started hobbying and reviewing before this age range and have continued now that I am a bit above it. I think the age range is mostly driven by the income level and excuses to get away (e.g., travel, late meetings, etc).
I suspect most of us would have been seeing escort and losing our virginities to them at 13 if we could afford to do so and get to them (imagine having to ask you escort to pick you up at middle school). Also, some ladies have minimum ages to avoid men who just want to OD on coke and Viagra and pound them into being too sore to work for the next couple of days.
I see some other factors in the age range.. Stuff like marriages falling apart and once athletic guys getting fat and balding.. Once they could get gfs very easily.. Now.. Not so much... At least not the hot ones.. Even the ones who can get gfs, might not want to, after being beaten down by the society a few times.. Divorces are not easy...

If we are talking about civie dating, since the rise of hookup culture, a guy's looks weigh more than personality, financial success, or age. Of course looks for most people decline with age, but both some guys and some ladies look good into their 50's/60's.

My tastes when it comes to how women look is probably far from many other's tastes.
I am not into flashy or overly slutty-looking women. What really catches my eye is natural beauty, and I even like plain-looking women. I'm not into voluptuous women either; I like the smaller types.
As such, I know that many, not all, men in the P2P world like things in women that do not match up to my personal tastes. When I read reviews, I take that into consideration. Some men go as far as absolutely denouncing any woman who is not a "10", which in itself I acknowledge is subjective in how it's defined. Suffice it to say that a 10 in general is far beyond my needs for how beautiful a woman is. What some men see as a 5 is perfectly fine with me.
