Deja Vu (or the stupidest reason you've ever had to cancel a date)

Well folks, i think i reached a new all-time low in the area of embarrassment this evening, and if you knew me, you'd realize that's a pretty healthy statement. :-(  What follows will probably sound pretty shallow, but it is what it is.

I had a date scheduled tonight with a well reviewed lady here on TER. Contact and screening were painless, we exchanged a few nice emails and a talked on the phone for alittle bit and everything seemed great. I was really looking forward to spending alittle time relaxing tonight, but alas, it was not to be.

This particular lady has her face obscured in her website picutres. No big deal, right? Well, i arrived at her incall, rang the bell, and a woman in an extremely sexy outfit answered the door. Unfortunately for me, her facial features resembled my ex-wife so much that i almost fell over when i saw her(i'm about 7 months divorced). Now, i'm not slamming her as being ugly. Personally, i thought she was very attractive, and had i not recently gone thru world war 3 with my ex i don't think it would have bothered me(she and i still can't be in the same room without going thru a metal detector first. And even then, a referee and 2 county cops would be a great help). Just the sight of my ex wife is still enough to get my blood pressure up.

Anyway, she opens the door, gives me a hug and a kiss, and leads me to the couch. She leaves to get us something to drink, and when she returns asks me...."What's wrong, your stiff as a board(not that way), and white as a sheet?" As stupid as i felt saying it, i did tell why, which she took very well, and suggested that we chat for alittle bit and see if i got over my visual fixation........so to speak. After about 20 it was clear to both of us that i was not comfortable and we decided to end our time together. I'm still kicking myself in the ass for being a dipshit, she really was a great person to talk with. I just wasn't able to get past the facial features. I guess in time it will pass and won't bother me anymore, but i found out tonight, that that time hasn't come yet.

So tell me ladys and gentlemen, what's the sillyest reason you've ever had to cancel a date? I know there have to be some real winners out there, although i'm not sure any will beat this one.

If I showed up on a provider's doorstep and she looked like my late wife, I'd probably react the same way (but for different reasons - I did love my wife very much).  I'd have trouble relating to a provider like that.  It's to her credit that she was very understanding, and I hope that you compensated her for the small amount of her time you did consume.

I have never cancelled a date for any reason except for illnes, which isn't silly.

The worst cancellation I ever got from a provider was that she was fall-down drunk, so she said.  She sounded bombed on the phone when she cancelled.  It was a 10:30AM appointment, and being drunk at that hour is a puzzle to me.

I once cancelled a date based on some fairly twisted logic.

I had a couple of dates scheduled with a lady I had seen before, the second one about a month out, the next time I would be in town. On the first of these two dates, I had what I considered to be a "One in a lifetime" experience, so I cancelled the second date. The brilliant theory behind this was that any future date would be a let down.

As it turned out, karma got me (it wasn't instant because it took a month.) I made an appointment with a different lady for the next time I would be in town, and she had to cancel our date due to a family emergency.

There is a local gal here in Sandyeggo who has amazing similarities to my sister's facial features.  I did get through a great 2 hour session with her, but constantly had to fight down the "how much she looks like my sister" demon that kept whispering in my ear attempting to ruin the mood.

I haven't been back to see her, 'cause I can't get past that.  I really wish I could, 'cause she is stunning and a wonderful and engaging provider.

a certain popular LA spinner could be the twin of my daughter's best friend from HS.  While I got through the session with relative aplomb, there was a disconnect on my side.  While I've been known to enjoy some kinky stuff - the fantasy of "good mornin' lil schoolgirl" didnt work where it was too close to home.  I guess pederasty is simply not in my repertoire of kink. :O

I think this is perfectly acceptable "irrationable" reason to cancel a date.  Enjoying each other wasn't possible and since it seems that she was accepting of the circumstances, there was sort of a no-harm, no-foul situation.  I hope you at least compensated her for her time.

I found myself in a hotel room with a touring lady, who was significantly larger than her photos led me to think she would be.  Definitely not my thing.  My hang-up, not hers.  I do this for mainly my fun and pleaseure, very idiosynchratic perspectives.  I said thank you for giving me the time but I changed my mind, left the donation with her and left the room.  Didn't want to get into the accuracy of photos issue at the time because I couldn't be sure they were that much off from reality.  So, when in doubt be a gentleman or at least nice.
