Some researchers and scientists have predicted that robots will provide companionship for people by the year 2050.

Artificial intelligiance has already created emotions that can mimic a 1 year old.

Do you see this happening and do you think that it would be right or wrong for them to create this?

That hunky guy was all robot, and to my recollection, he provided...companionship too didn't he? hubba hubba!!

As I see it...we already have out little battery operated doohickies, and to be honest...a little reciprocal touching and woohooies would be heavennnnn! (nothing compares to the real thing though)

while I've no doubt about the ability and the maket for such... (witness the blow up doll sales..)  I suspect that most will not find the experience they seek... besides.... having raised two kids beyond 1 yr old... I highly doubt that I would really enjoy anything with the emotions of a 1-yr old... even an 11 or 15 yr old is challenging... far to challenging than a willing lady of flesh and blood.... maybe it is just me...

Would it be great for a elderly person to have a robot companion?  Or someone who is medically disabled?  Sure.

However, modern society is already disconnected as it is.  Robot companions would be a scary element to add to that issue.

Of course, everyone assumed that the computer would have a de-humanizing effect, too... instead, it has facilitated contact/connections, communications like never before --

He'd look like Hugh Jackmon, clean the house, cook dinner, bring me a Pina Colada with a little purple umbrella in it, and be programmed to do exactly what I say in bed.

Geesh, I need a Cabana Boy.
