Official: Hottest Day Ever!!

Just wanted to share with those of you who live in hotter climes that I'm so excited that London just broke it's highest ever temperature record for the second time in a week!  Today we reached 100F for the first time ever!!  

Those of you who know me will know I'm very keen on the sun and the heat. Those of you who have visited the UK will find it hard to believe how much sun and heat we've had lately

Actually, it was one of those brutally hot and humid days around here today, maybe 30 (I'm Canadian, I can't think in Fahrenheit anymore!) degrees but so humid it's like a sauna when you step outside.  Thunderstorms now though, (5:30 pm), so it's a bit cooler at the moment.

I had occasion to spend about 3 weeks in the UK in June-July of '89. The weather then was a bit of an aberation - temps did not reach 100, but were in the low-to-mid 90's for several days running - England was the hottest place in Europe, temperature-wise. Drove down to Brighton, and found the rocks so crowded it was difficult to find a place to spread out a towel.

Carrie, had I met you then, I probably would be just be getting out of the nick about now  But next time I find myself across the pond - expect a call!

FWIW, here in the NY metro area, temps today were in the low 80's - but so was the relative humidity - YUCK!

Watch out Carrie, singleton is misleading you ... it gets down right cold in New England eventually. Not just cooler, but ball shrinking cold. lol

Come to sunny Florida where it's so heavenly in the winter we don't care to leave and so hot in the summer hell doesn't scare us.

It was 109 here in Dallas thursday. It was still 100 degrees by 8:00 in the evening. Jeezzz. Thank god for AC.

I live Minnesota, where the summers can be very hot and the winters can be very, well you know frigid. I spent some time
in Turkey many years ago where day time temps run about 117F
in the shade. I know that its even hotter in Iraq.
So while I am excited for Carrie, Lets not
forget about our guys and gals over there who are experiencing
heat as we never see in the USA or the UK! btw the temp here today was sunny and about 83F. Carrie enjoy your hot days!

Not to be negative, but this is a result of our global warming. We shouldn't be to happy about this.

Relative humidity were those beads of sweat that break out on your cousin's back when you're f*cking her from behind?

Low to the mid-80's in central Florida today, with some rain ... of course it rains like almost everyday in the summer. Humidity will cause severe low-hanging ballsack syndrome though. So guys, be careful out there. Don't trip on yourself.

So far, this is the only post that raises the spectre that this may not just be an aberition.
At this point, though, Single, Kyoto is already outdated.  Recent reports by environmental groups are stating that the timetable has increased dramatically in just the past few years...but you know those tree huggers!

Global warming is something that people are not going to think is funny at all in the very near future.  For now, tho, we can sit back and watch President Alfred E. Newman say "What, me worry?".

I am also glad that someone mentioned how insane it must be to be in Iraq right now.  Basically, think about being in BDU's with a hot metal rifle in you hands and wearing combat boots (I was in the Army for four years, so I know) in temps that are higher than Yuma, AZ...more like Death Valley...or the surface of Venus.

However, if anyone shoud be saved from the heat, it is the lovely fair skinned Carrie, she of the beautiful eyes.  Carrie, it was only 82 in San Diego today...and the water is soooo cool.  Sunny here all da time.

Hi Carrie.

Back here in NYC it's been around the mid 80's. However the last few weeks the temp have been fluctuating from around the high 70's up to 100 F. Very humid as well.

Last year was a major heat wave here. At one point, we were consistently getting 110 F in the big apple and the surrounding areas. Catching the subway during those days was a major pain. Waiting for the tube itself was like having a sauna!!

Unfortunately, I don't share your enthusiasm for the hot weather. Record breaking temps all over Europe just give added weight to warnings about global warming.

Maybe if London goes another 200 years without ever reaching a hundred degrees we can all relax. But it might be more likely that a new record will be set in another ten years. And by then the problem will be very serious, and harder to correct.

A rise of one or two degrees in the average temperature may not sound like much, but when you integrate that over an entire city, or over the entire globe, you're talking about an enormous amount of extra heat, more than enough to cause violent storms, floods, droughts, etc. Not to mention all the nasty tropical bugs that will eventually find northern climes to be more hospitable.

Death Valley has a record temp of 134 degrees F (taken at the city of Furnace Creek).  

Badwater (nearby) has temperatures 3 to 4 degrees hotter.  Badwater is the lowest point in the Western Hemishere, at 282 feet below sea level.

Death Valley regularly has temperatures in the mid 120's, with usually 150 days a year with temps over 100 degrees F.  Iraq does get temps over 120 degrees also.

Death Valley has a Marathon Run every year for fun.  

Take lots of water.

i live in new york. the temperature has been 73-82 degrees farenheit w/ scattered showers the past wk. it was very humid. if you want perfect weather, try san diego, california. i came back from there early last wk. it was 65-75 degrees farenheit. there was no humidity.  it had morning haze and then sun for the rest of the day. i wore shorts and t-shirt quite comfortably the whole time i was there.

Living in the "Inland Empire" of Southern California I find it cute that you are so jazzed about hitting tripple digit temps.
You may want to stay away from "heavy" foods like "Bangers & bubbles" or "Shepards pie" till the heat subsides. make yourself a nice cold salad and catch a tan.  What do you think is next for England Carrie?? EX-treme sports maybe?.
