too many people are sedentary... eat too much processed food with too much salt... consume too many sugary drinks with absolutely no nutritional value but a whole lot of calories... get too little sleep... and they wonder why they are packing on the pounds.  SMH.  

Now I don't have the answer on how to get anyone to see the light, but I can set the example, and I do, for my family and co-workers.  

Okay... I'll get off my soapbox now.

Most lesbians that I know prefer not to conform to the male ideal of a woman's body and have no issue getting fat. And they have no issue getting dates do they don't give a shit.

Personally I find obesity gross no matter what your sexual orientation is. It is just plain unhealthy. There are other ways to deter a man's advances, sheesh have you seen what the average gay chick wears?  

Gay males are all about being attractive to get laid and will do whatever it takes to be the one everybody wants to fuck. Although there are the bears who are fat and hairy and they tend to keep it the family and fuck each other.  

I had a fat lesbian try to pick me up a while ago and I said no I am not interested not because she was gay but because she was fat and looked like a fat dude. If I am going to be with a woman, I want a woman, in shape and attractive.

First off, as my pose up a few implies, $2.87M is not an outrageous amount of money in government expenditure. But more importantly, the reason why such studies are done are to reveal data that influences further work on solving problems. In this case, the problem is national health not whether or not lesbians are more overweight than their straight counterparts per se.

Neocons pick up on any study that sounds trivial or has no obvious application to science and bang their drums about purposeless spending and government waste. And stir up a general distrust of science among the Great Unwashed. They did the same thing with early experiments regarding the Internet. Don't let the Nazis amongst us cause you grief.

And it was all about obesity, why the singling out of lesbians? It is such a small demographic. They have the entire nation to figure out why two thirds of this nation are fat.
