I agree, especially facebook. A po0sting is saw by everyone in that network and they or you might say the wrong thing. Plus a provider has a right to her own life aside from the business
My opinion is, keep it to yourself and move along - if she wanted you as a 'friend' she would have invited you.
That is no different than running across a provider having dinner with her friends or family - you wouldn't walk up and introduce yourself there, would you?
Asking to be her online buddy is just a really creepy way of telling her that you know her real name.
Of course, that's just my opinion.
I suppose that makes me creepy, lol. I have several providers as friends on myspace. Most are using their pro names, but at least one is not. Not that it matters, because I do know the first names of all but one, because they saw fit to tell me. In the case of the ones using their real names, I knew them prior to seeing it there.
I see a difference, and in my opinion a significant one, in that she can deny to accept the friend invitation if she chooses. I don't have anyone in my group that isn't of an adult nature, so it's not like my family is mixed in with a bunch of playmates, porn stars, escorts and strip clubs.
If her MySpace/Facebook is under her escort name, then it's not a big deal. But remember joining her friends list does open you up to prying eyes.
If it is her personal page, then just pass by, especially if it is a lady who blurs/hides her face on her website.

is private. I don't want anyone acknowledging me on that page, nor do I want others drawn to it by word of mouth. Just my opinion.

and sent an e-mail into the generic company web address with an internal address to you! going something like this...
Dear John 'works for company'
hey, I remembered so vividly of your telling me about your company a couple of nights ago. I thought it clever that you told your wife that you had an important business dinner to go to so that you could see lil ole me! Yum...
Honey cakes, when we gonna get together again so I can relieve all that stress your big ole bad mean boss causes you down there at XYZ corp.
OH, please let me know when I can see you again, and handle those corporate assets... and help you concentrate on getting that raise so you can see me more frequently... oh... I just really like working with that corporate tool....
till I see you again.
miss escort.
In short, don't go where you are not invited. Its bad form.
I have daughters, sisters, nieces and nephews all connected thru face book. Why would a provider need to use Face Book to promote her biz?
Think about this. All the forums there are. The groups. The yahoos and the aims...just google your name.
If I were a guy and I saw a provider had a Face Book, I would steer clear. I would consider her to be RISKY BUSINESS
I agree, especially facebook. A po0sting is saw by everyone in that network and they or you might say the wrong thing. Plus a provider has a right to her own life aside from the business
Providers have lives too - and their privacy should be respected.
But you knew that ![]()
I have my "day job" and for that I have LinkedIn and very carefull as to who i ad as connections there. And of course you would need to know my name/last name to find me there ... or to have my email address used for career purposes. The one i list on my resume.
Facebook/MySpace when not used carefully are just recipie for disaster in my opinion.

There's been a lot of good responses here. I, too, have been in this situation, and we discussed it. Funny thing was, she was okay with me being a friend on her MySpace. I wasn't.
Of course, every situation is different: how well do you know her, how well she knows you, whether or not she has family on as friends, and if you have family as friends, etc.
I viewed it this way. In my situation, she did have some family members on there. While she was comfortable with me knowing this, my being a friend kind of pushes her business onto her family. That, to me, is an invasion of her personal life.
Although we're good friends, we *have* to keep our personal lives separate. This would have given me that much more of a glimpse into her life, and I felt that was too much. What she tells me is fine with me - I don't need access to more.
If you don't know her all that well, it is a creepy way of saying that you know who she is. There's also the safety factor to consider. MySpace is a public domain, and putting "adult" connections like that does pose a risk that really isn't worth taking.
I had a few people find mine before. I was getting propsitioned from guys who saw my website and ad. I wound up changing my page to private so I would no longer be bothered.
